Whitby Public Library - Central Library

Really nice spot to read, do some focused work or browse books. I love the architecture of this library, it's located right in the centre of downtown Whitby and conveniently located near a bunch of cafe's & restaurants. It's an absolutely great place to take your kids as it has a large kids area as well.nnThe wifi is super fast! And the seating I selected has a beautiful view outside. That's what I like about this library, it has plenty of open windows for light, it puts you in such a positive mood! The study areas don't seem packed at all and have plenty of space.nnPeople are also well behaved here, it's a quiet atmosphere for you to do work and get stuff done. Highly recommend this place and look forward to coming back here again!

Fantastic library. Modern and clean. Has kids and teen section. Private rooms for meetings. Cubicles for individuals. Has a cafe. Even has board games, dvds and console games to borrow. A+

This is a nice place for study, casual reading or just hanging out. It’s a large building with a wide variety of books and videos. There are comfortable seating areas and enough room no matter the time of the day.nParking is limited but there is paid parking beside it. They have new release movies and video games to borrow. They have a few private rooms on first come basis.nOverall, it’s a very nice space and you dan understand why it occasionally fills up quickly. There have good programs and books for kids and their notice boards are packed with important local events. Definitely a place to be.

Went to the library yesterday just to print 2 pages. Logged in at the computer, no problem, found the pages, hit print, went to the printer. It wanted my car number and pin. Did that...... Not valid. Thank you staff for your help... NOT! Useless workers. Too busy on there own personal cell phones. Please teach these workers customer service. They want the money but don't want to work!

I'm a newcomer and have been in the area for almost a year now. Whitby Central Public Library is mindblowingly amazing! It has a lot of areas and seats for reading, studying, and even just chilling. I'm also very lucky to discover different technologies that has helped me a lot in my weekly projects as an arts student. Some examples I frequently use are the Large Format Printer, sound booth, iMac in the Discovery Zone for Adobe CC, and the Discovery Kits. We never had this kind of stuff from where I'm from, so I'm very thankful to experience Canada's commitment on maximizing the people's taxes through a well-maintained library.nnAll the staff I've encountered so far are very kind and approachable. If you don't have a library card, they can help you use a regular PC computer to print documents if you need them. They have a regularly updated website and mobile app that showcases every program and services they have. You could also renew your borrowings there depending on the type of item. I'm actually so thankful that I downloaded the app because it has kept me from preoccupying myself with other window shopping platforms.nnThey also have random flyers for newcomers, location of food banks, Whitby's bike trail map, employment fair event contacts, and etc. for free at 2nd floor — if you want to take a look at them. There's just so much to explore here!
