Scugog Memorial Public Library

I love these modern public libraries that have been relatively recently designed and built with good architectural form and lots of light. This one has semi private study rooms along the side of the building facing the lake. On a beautiful sunny day, it’s amazing to sit there doing work online. The internet is plenty fast and easy to use. Definitely recommend!

This place is hardly a library. Yes lots of books and resources, but it's more of a social club than anything. Same people come here everyday to chit chat, some people use the non soundproof rooms for video calls, others use it for dates. Children run around unsupervised and the staff kicks you out 5 minutes before they close. Not a place to come if you expect the traditional quiet rules of the library to apply.nnEdited: Quality response to my initial review, appreciate the information as my expectations may be outdated. To clarify the staff on weekdays are very pleasant with some minor changes on the weekends. The facility is well run.

This library is the premier study destination in the Durham Region, offering four silent study rooms on a first-come, first-served basis and staffed by exceptionally friendly personnel. Although I live in Brooklin, I prefer the 20-minute drive to Port Perry, as the Brooklin branch tends to be rather noisy.
