Imaging at the Women’s Wellness Suite at Westfield Memorial Hospital
Most recently, WMH added Selenia® Digital Mammography from Hologic, a state-of-the-art system that offers a number of other practical advantages and patient conveniences. Because there are no wait times for film to be developed, it significantly reduces the need for repeat exams due to under or over exposure. High-resolution digital images are easily stored and transferred electronically, eliminating the dependency on one set of original films, which can be misfiled or lost in transit.
Nuclear Medicine (American College of Radiology Accredited Facility)
Nuclear scans can help doctors with the diagnosis of many diseases and medical conditions. Not only can it help in the diagnosis, but it shows the anatomy of an organ or body part as well as its function. Nuclear imaging procedures often identify abnormalities very early in the progress of the disease. This usually means better outcomes for the patient. We are currently providing the following exams:
• Renal scans
• Liver/spleen scans
• Limited thyroid scans
• HIDA scans, bone scans
• Whole body scans
Ultrasound
An Ultrasound exam is done by using sound waves to look at internal organs, structures and tissue. The technologist will use a hand held device called a transducer. The exams are painless, and most exams take 30-60 minutes.
