Western Budget Motel Red Deer # 2

Look guys, you have a great product for a great value. The rooms are huge and nice and everything is well maintained....but the scammy sign saying $59 and stay 2 nights get 1 free is a complete bait and switch scam that is extremely off putting. It puts such a bad first impression that it is hard to recover from. Ultimately I enjoyed my stay and now that I see past the scam I will actually be a loyal customer of this chain. But I highly recommend that if you are going to advertise a price, make it one you are willing to honour. And if it only applies to 5 of the rooms, then get a digital sign that advertises the lowest rate CURRENTLY available.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 months while working 12 hour night shifts. The arrangement with the company was that housekeeping would come by every 3 days between 3-6pm. After the first week it was a struggle to get the housekeeping to come at all and when they did it, the room was poorly cleaned. I had to ask them to vacuum the floor or change the bedding, etc. They acted like it was a bother to clean my room at all. The front desk clerk was incredibly rude when I tried to speak to him about the best times to have them come clean the room and actually put his hand in my face and told me ‘don’t be argumentative’, when I was only trying to figure out what I could do to make it easier for them. After that, I had housekeeping come only once a week, if that. Also, the breakfast food, on the few occasions I did go by to grab something, had a poor selection and the condiments were expired. Overall, it was a terrible experience. If I’d had a choice, I would have switched hotels. In the future I will not stay there again.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and how quiet it was. Would stay again. Great value.
