Baymont by Wyndham Red Deer

Overall, I had a pretty good time at this hotel. The pool was really fun and unique with luscious plants surrounding the atrium and our room was pretty clean and cozy. The staff were also amazing! However I have a few suggestions and concerns:nnPool:n- Hygiene could be improved, there was a lot of crumbs around the pool area, along with plastic from broken pool toys. There were also a few instances where there was gum and bandages around the pool floor which was pretty gross. This could be mitigated with more frequent cleaningn- Renovations are needed, as the uneven floor in the atrium and pool also becomes a problem with splashing, as water collects on the pool floor, making it a hazard. I felt it was also important to mention that the hot tub has a corner by the ladder where there is a sharp piece of rust. This should be fixed as soon as possible as it is a risk for tetanus. If the metal could be taken out of the pool entirely, that would mitigate this hazard. The tile is also missing in some areas, while makes the pool floor a cutting hazard. Retiling the pool would give the place more prestigen- I would also recommend an adult swim, as the pool gets crowded with screaming children at night, which echoes in the atrium, making it hard to sleepn- More frequent supervision of the pool would also be nice, as I noticed misbehaviour, such as the throwing of items from the third floor into the pool, and children playing with lifesaving devices alone in the pool by themselvesn- Creating an entrance for people with disabilities would be more inclusivennAtrium:n- Hygiene also could be improved here, as the carpets are stained and usually covered with crumbs, making it unhygienicn- Floor is super uneven, which poses as a tripping hazard, along with the ripped carpet.n- The furniture in the atrium could also be improved, as it’s pretty datednRemoving the tarp covering spare bedding by gazebo would also put more care into the appearance of the locationn- Some of the lights in the atrium also need to be replaced, as this would improve the visibility and appearancennHallways:n- Stains definitely need to be dealt with, as it makes the place look unhygienic, along with the crumbsn- Empty breaker box should be removed, as it also makes the place look datedn- More lighting would be nicen- Housekeeping should be more readily available in the hallwaysnnRooms:n- Mattresses should be upgraded, as they are very plush and are not suitable for people with back issues, along with the flat pillowsnMore lighting in the rooms would be nice pool side access, as it often gets hard to see during the evening hours and can become depressingn- Bathrooms definitely need upgrading, as the wood on the door has begun to crack towards the bottom from all the humiditynnBreakfast:n- More options would be appreciatedn- More frequent cleaning of the tables and floors would be more hygienicn- Fixing the juice machine in the corner would be nice, or just putting it awayn- Removal of stale food would be appreciatednnFront Entrance:n- Retiling would give guests a better first impressionn- Repaving the parking lot would also help with this and making entering the lot more accessible for people, especially those with disabilitiesnnThings to Consider:n- Located beside a crime prevention buildingn- Near downtown, accessible, but be carefuln- Pricey for the lack of cleanliness

Staff at the front desk was awesome and very kind. However, hotel is super old and outdated. Our AC didn't really work. The toliet ran every 5 minutes and the carpets need replaced. Breakfast was the saddest thing weve seen in awhile. The 1 shining star is the pool area. It is so beyond cool to be surrounded by live trees and plants. We honestly stayed there for the pool but I think we would go elsewhere next time. But i mean you get what you pay for. We stayed here because it was the cheapest hotel available. So just keep that in mind.

While the location and price are a plus, the included buffet breakfast is a huge disappointment. I understand the hotel is undergoing major renovations and the renovated lobby looks quite nice. The front desk and breakfast staff are friendly and pleasant. However, cold, overcooked hard boiled eggs and cold, dried out breakfast sausages do not constitute a good breakfast buffet. Similarly priced hotels in the area have delicious breakfasts. So, this is something that needs to be improved upon. BTW, I haved worked hotel maintenance. Many things at this hotel have been neglected for way too long. I hope the renos bring big change. That will be the only thing that will salvage what used to be one of the best hotels in Red Deer.

Area is sketchy walked to get a pizza and druggies everywhere. Me and my son saw some kind of help group passing out narcan kits and welchs fruit candy. Then the pool is below average. The breakfast was the absolute worst I've ever had in all my time staying for travel ball anywhere. It was open from 630 to 930 and you had to go to the front desk for a ticket. got in there at 6:45 to find the buffet had dried sausages that I can only assume were left overs from the previous day. They served over easy eggs and pancakes. The bread was dried out like it was sitting in the bread basket overnight. The juice machine was broke and had dried juice dangling from each spout. Then there was two jugs one with apple flavour the other with mystery fluid. Big selection of fruit bruised bananas. Here's the kicker get back to the table and for cash you can get hash browns and bacon. The building is like a maze in room coffee tastes like a shoe paid 398 for two nights lesson learned.

We've stayed for an extended stay and the staff have been absolutely amazing!!! Top teir staff. Front desk lady is so cheerful! Hello's and goodnights everyday! Matience man is so patient! Thank you for putting up with my boys in the pool The gentlemen that takes breakfast tickets, makes sure your happy and full before your done eating! Ladies in the breakfast room will always make sure you have enough to eat even if there is one piece left! Our room has been always kept up and the pillows are one of the best you will sleep on! Thank you housekeeping! If you wanna stay somewhere with an awesome pool, an even better staff then this should be your #1 choice!
