NO REFUNDS FOR WALMART INCOMPETENCE!nnHistorically, Walmart has had a no fuss refund policy -- but not this time. I had passport photos done at the photo centre and they looked just fine until I showed up at the passport office. The agent said immediately, Oh you wore white -- meaning there wasn't enough contrast between me and the white background. I had to get new photos. I returned to Walmart and explained the problem and the person working the photo counter that day said they normally won't take photos if the customer is wearing white. He didn't know why that happened in my case. At the customer service counter, the manager said there are no refunds for photo services and then pointed to a sign. Although I explained that this was their fault, she said no. I said I would leave a negative public review but she was unfazed. Okay, if it's going to be that way.
I shop here only for the lower prices on the same goods that are more expensive than Loblaws. Other than that, I can't stand this place!!nnThey are so often out of so many things, and the service is HORRIBLE from start to finish. Shelves are in disarray and half empty at all times. Employees seem absolutely miserable and it shows. They can't be bothered to be friendly, but certainly have all the time in the world to chat amongst themselves while people are standing around waiting.nnAnd, I get that there is a lot of theft at this store, but each and every single time I go to the self checkout, the very minimal employees that are in the area stand super close to you and watch you like a hawk the entire time you're scanning your items. It's uncomfortable.nnOn the subject of self checkouts - why is there always a huge lineup waiting and minimal staff working? There are a pile of self checkout kiosks, yet one employee standing around, 4 kiosks working, and a lineup snaked around. Whoever sets the schedule - do you not know your busy hours? Why isn't the self checkout area ever properly staffed?nnDon't even get me started on the people that shop there. If it weren't for the low prices, I'd never step foot in this dump again.
Terrible experience today with 2 separate staff. The photo manager Nishi rolled her eyes when I said I'm deaf. Awful attitude. Secondly at the self service check out, only 2 machines are open with over 10 people waiting to pay. I asked Thaya why don't she open up the machines for us? She walked away and talked to someone else without acknowledging me at all. Extremely rude in her behavior. Multiple of self checkouts are down. Long lines. Keep forcing us to do self check out. Well played Walmart. Ugh. Awful place to shop.
Walmart has better prices than Loblaws and other stores, which is the reason for the 2 stars. This store has a problem with honoring the prices shown on the shelves at checkout. Two times I've had them scan the wrong prices, and when I tell them that, they don't check the shelf price. They're also supposed to honor the 10 dollar rule, which the people working there haven't heard of apparently. It's either take it or leave it, which means that many people are getting them scanned at higher prices. And you can't even check the prices all the time as it's being scanned because you have to bag your own stuff. Why when plastic bags disappeared suddenly do you have to do this? And everyone should be certified to sell alcohol before they do the cash, or don't put them there. I've also had cashiers scan a can of cat food and times it by all the cans I'm buying when some of the other ones are cheaper. That was happening once a month. No apologies when they do this. There are a few good cashiers here though. And the lotto kiosk people know their job.
I'm all but convinced that if they brought back human cashiers, the checkout process would be much faster. Half the self checkouts were down, and when I did get to one, the camera on the machine flagged me twice for shoplifting.nnEach time this happened, I had to wait for an lone attendant overseeing 20+ self checkouts to come and review the playback video. Both videos showed I was not shoplifting, and in one case the machine flagged me for moving my own reusable bag onto the conveyer. If Walmart is so concerned about loss prevention, they should bring back human cashiers.
