Yuri is the owner and seriously wonderful man behind all the yummy eats at Vatra. I came all the way from downtown Toronto east to visit. I sadly came at the time when Ukraine is seeing some of the most horrific times in its history. I came to support and show love to its people and food. Yuri is passionate and caring and it was wonderful to get to know him and eat some seriously great eats. So get out there and discover all the amazing places Toronto has to offer. Super clean store! Wide variety of delicious cooked food! Amazing deserts! Polite and friendly stuff!
We ordered catering from Vatra Deli for a family birthday party. The food was delicious and fairly priced. We received many positive reviews from our family members. We ordered the chicken and pork patichky meat on a stick, perogies and cabbage rolls. It was so fresh! They also have quite a lot of vegetarian options which is helpful when accommodating guests with a variety of dietary restrictions. The owner, Yuri, was also very helpful and assisted us in bringing our large order to our car. Our family will definitely be ordering from Vatra Deli again.
Amazing products available, for all your deli needs. The hot food counter is amazing, great homemade food daily. Catering options also available. Friendly service.
Best Ukrainian food in town and reasonably priced. Win win.
Amazingly good. Crepes, chicken on skewers, beet soup, cheesecake, cabbage rolls are all SO DELICIOUS! Everything they sell is so delicious!! The restaurant owner is such a kind and friendly person too!! My family will now be weekly customers!
Delicious!! We pre-ordered meat on a stick, cabbage rolls, potato pancakes and pierogies for a small gathering. Everything was ready on time, was piping hot, and most importantly tasted delicious. Great value for the quality and quantity.
It was closed but I heard good things about this store 20 years agoFood: 5/5
OMG, my wife found this place on-line, & on a whim we went there. Ended-up spending well over 70 bux at the end of it all...! The paticzkie "meat on a stick were to die for. There offer 2 kinds, i.e. chicken, or pork. The latter reminded me of the meals I ate at local Polish weddings in the late 1950's - early 1960's --- memories that I'd forgotten all about. The deli also stocks jellied beef tongue cold cuts, a treat that seems to have become extinct outside of Toronto-proper...& yes, these were delicious, too. The potato pancakes were superb, the perogies were good, but I wasn't so keen on the cabbage rolls...but they certainly were acceptable, nonetheless. Overall, a "Grade A" rating, no matter how you might look at it. If you've never eaten any Polish food in your life, drop by & taste what you've been missing lo these many years...! You --- & your taste buds --- will appreciate the experience. :o
The selection and quality is really quite good and the service is fine. But on two occasions, with two different employees, this has happened: I asked for some food from the hot table and on another occasion for some frozen varenyky, and they forgot to put the item in my bag after I paid. You can probably say that this is my fault for not checking my bag, yes of course. But it is really quite annoying to expect to receive every item you ordered, and then to not find the item when you arrive home. We will still probably buy food here because we like it, but this is quite aggravating.
