Outrageous pricing on used books.nEvery single book I saw in a most of the sections was $6.99. It was indiscriminate. A flimsy small book or a large photo book, all $6.99. Gone are the days when they priced based on the original sale price, where anything over $15 was $5.99.nnI have never seen this at any other location in Ontario. Maybe that’s why they hang a plaque at the front saying “best performance in the region” - more for profit sales.
This store is horrible! Over the last month they have jacked up all the prices.nnI asked for help explaining why the SAME books are different prices and how the same book set can range in such prices. When i asked the firstt kid that workedhere he had no information and was rude about getting me help from someone who had the information. If you dont want to work in coustmer service get a new job.nnWhen i went up to the front two workers named Gail and natasha we're also rude saying there's nothing they can do and it's not their fault the prices are different. That they dont make the prices. When i showed them the same book was marked different prices even fellow customers were asking the same questions and they just would not answer. They have some kids books marked at $1.75-$5 and more. They get EVERYTHING threw donation and then jack up all the prices. I would avoid and find other thrift shops. Natasha and Gail need to do better as their service skills suck. And so close to christmas too.. such a shame.nnThe other guys name was Ramin.nnRamin, Gail and Natasha are all in need of some sort of training.
Value Village is a second-hand store with a very distinct smell. Like your aunt's basement. But it has many bargains if you are in the mood to hunt. I actually went there this time to see if I could find coat hooks and was successful.nHappy hunting!
Surprised I haven't written a review sooner. I like this value village, don't get me wrong. Though I do notice that the prices feel quite high. Maybe it's cause I go to other thrift store often and notice some things are cheaper. I feel like they could be a bit more organized. I like coming here when I know there's a deal going on. Found something I needed today and also a nice set of nightgowns. I like to double check if I can find something in the thrift online to compare prices. Cause too often even dollarama items at the thrift are being upcharged.
The supervisor lacks customer service skill. I was there looking at some jewelry at the showcase and I even bought something but she wanted the lady I was dealing with to do something else. While I am standing there, she asked the lady if she was done ahaha. Then about 2 minutes or less she called the lady on the walky talky to ask her if she was done. Then in less than a minute she walked back to call the girl AGAIN. The girl wanted to check me out right there because there was no one to give my items to. I felt so small. As if I was invisible or doesn't deserve time to get what I want. Unless someone had an emergency, nothing warrant that behavior, nor should it affect the customer. Great customer service from the girl I dealt with, even though she was been rushed, she was patient with me.
