Uncle Remus SFC - 47th Street

This is my first visit to Chicago from Mississippi and one of my coworkers told me I had to try this place. I made it a point to visit here and I am beyond disappointed. We were refused service because a child and adult with us left their mask in the car understandable. Once the masks were retrieved we proceeded with our order. We waited 30 minutes for our food which is cool as long as the food is fresh. While waiting for our food. A young lady walked in and the server told her that she had to have a mask to order. The exact same guy in the back that was cooking and refused our service instructed the server to let her order. She was able to order her food without a mask. I'm from MS so I'm no stranger to being discriminated against but wow. After waiting 30 minutes for my food it was not fresh and I will leave a pic of the chicken. The skin was so hard that it was inedible. The sever Keke was nice but that's about it.

Different experiences for different people. I’ve seen the mixed reviews on Uncle Remus and to be honest with you, I can’t ever say I’ve had a bad experience. Every time I’ve went the chicken and fish has been on point. The fries were excellent. The mild sauce was generous, I’ll take Uncle Remus every time. Now please keep in mind Uncle Remus and Harold’s Chicken are both chicken shacks, but on 2 different levels. Uncle Remus is on the level of your Popeyes, Church’s & Brown’s. As for Harold’s is on the level of JJ Fish & Shark’s. People like to compare them but there are totally different and the price indicates that too.

Very disappointed. Been hearing about this place for years. The food is not bad. But the young lady that took my order did not have a friendly attitude . I know it’s hard to find people that want to work these days but to hire someone who definitely doesn’t want to be there and shows it to the customers is really a shame. I’m not writing this to get anyone in trouble but hopefully to make improvements, It’s just as easy to give good service as bad. The young lady who worked there seems to go out of her way to come across as rude and uninviting or maybe it was just natural. Definitely not how you would want your business to be represented. I love to support what I assume is a black owned business.. I just hope they step up their game with the customer service. Bad customer service will turn off the average person from ever wanting to go back to a place. By the way if you are paying with cash make sure you have the exact amount no change. I sincerely wish you the best.

These were the BEST wings I’ve had in the whole city of Chicago! OMG I just ate here for the first time today & the chicken was cooked to PERFECTION! Like wow. Thank you. My experience was awesome. The girl at the front counter was a sweetheart & the food was amazing. Keep up the great work :-

Although the food is amazing the customer service and food ordering process could be wired on. The cashier always seem to always a a attitude… the people in the kitchen never puts orders out on time. It seems like they focus On everything else but prompt food service

I spent 25 dollars on a 4&6 piece wings and I asked for them to be cooked hard. Well, when I went on my lunch break at work, I tried to eat it and it was cooked just the opposite of what I asked. I tried to eat it and it made my stomach upset. I'm tried of restaurants hiring cooks that are not certified cooks. The food was horrible and I wish I could get my money back. I was in there on 18 Oct 22 around 2:00 pm ticket number 3108 .Nasty, nasty and nasty

Disappointed, if you’ve ever had the REAL Uncle Remus then you know this is not how it’s supposed to taste. The chicken was fried real really hard, taste like they refried it all over again. The skin was not good, I had to peel it off completely. The sauce doesn’t taste like original Remus sauce either. Fries were ok. I ate the food only because I had spent soo much but I would never go back to this location. I actually had 2 orders and gave the other order away to a homeless person.

Just stopped at this location... the time is 8:35pm on a Sunday.... I come to the door its locked... a very uneyeball friendly chic Rudely tells me there closed.... sign on the door says they close at 9:30pm on Sundays... My Issue is the Uneyeball Friendly Chics Attitude as if I wasn't suppose to be asking if they were closed!!! Black owned Business need to have better Customer Service...it's a shame you have to endure this kind of Attitude when you're trying to patronize your own!!! With her Ugly Face and Attitude....she will be mopping floors for the rest of her life!!!

Me and Bro Ordered here earlier, it was good mild sauce was a hit if only the lemon pepper was available I would've 5stared this spot instantly, cooks were cool and humble .

I am a Southsider, and I like our southside chicken spot if you know, then you know. However, Uncle Remus's chicken is better. I ordered online, and my food is always ready and fresh. The chicken is perfectly cooked, not overcooked or undercooked; it's just right. Their sauce is okay, I still prefer the southside spot's sauce, but the sauce cannot compete with the complete package from Uncle Remus. They have converted me to their westside chicken.
