Decent bowl of ramen but far from the best to be had in the city. Their katsu on the other hand is top tier. Staff is friendly and its clear they use quality ingredients and care with preparation, but flavor and value with their ramen falls quite short with so many other options available in the city. They use chicken based broth which I find lacked depth of flavor, but is good if your looking for a light ramen. Portion is also pretty small and they only gave 1pc each of chicken and pork cha shu, both of which were nothing special. Best part of the ramen for me was their noodles. Aside from ramen, the takoyaki and gyoza were both good, but the real stand out was the katsu sandwich. Fried to perfection, not oily, perfectly crispy yet Juicy and packing tons of flavor. They serve katsu on their own with steamed rice and I'll definitely be back for that. Definitely some of the best katsu I've had in the city and in my opinion what their real specialty is.
This small restaurant surprises us with both the quality and quantity of food. Big portion, authentic Japanese flavor, and great service humble, attentive, and professional staff while being on a budget. The fried chicken in the curry dish is crunchy without being oily so highly recommended. Clean and neat setting.Food: 5/5
Great spot for ramen in Liberty Village. The portions are smaller, though the prices match so all good on the value. However certain add ons are extra ie to make it spicy which is a little disappointing. The pressed sushi is also good a bit too many onions on the salmon tho! and a good value. The other snacks are reasonably priced as well, will try it out again!
Food: I had the vegan kale noodle soup. The fried lotus is something new to me, would be better with some salt or seasoning. Bamboo shoots and mushrooms tasted good and the kale noodles and seaweed were okay. The soup was a little disappointing as most ramen place the soup is the star of the dish and also because it tasted like chinese instant noodle of sesame soup . Tried a friend's shoyu soup base, it was okay. The squid balls were good and didn't need to wait too long for it. Interior: there are some comics and ultraman decorations which are unique but overall it feels a bit empty. Service: they were attentive, polite and knows their menu well. If I am ever in the area would try non vegan option and update the review. Vegetarian options: There are two vegan options
Highlight was the shoyu ramen broth, wasn’t too salty. Otherwise nothing to write home about. They oddly had one slice of chashu pork and two slices of chicken you can see the photos and difference in meat The meat and noodles were fine, nothing spectacular.
Soup was flavourful however it was on a salty side. The thick noodles were cold and expected the ramen to be abit more hot. The gyoza was spot on and added an extra egg. Another add on was the spicy paste but our server accidentally forgot as there was more customers coming in for the evening.Food: 3/5
Be aware that I may not the best to give an unbiased opinion about Japanese food, however as a food lover I will share my experience. We went there yesterday before going to the TFC game. We all ordered Ramen with pork and it was fresh and the flavour was good. I did have Ramen before in Chicago and was amazing so that’s the only reference that I have with Ramen. We ordered also Sapporo and was cold and nice, as a draft beer should be. We also ordered Sake and it was nice, second time having I had warm wine but yesterday I enjoyed it, the first time not so much. The service was nice the young lady helping us was good. If the place gets busier they may need extra help. Also the atmosphere is ok, they could add some decor specially to help their customers to get into Japanese ambiance I guess. Place is very simple and could be improved: I saw previous reviews from over 11 months ago and I don’t know how long this place has been opened.
Amazing cheese katsu. One of the best ones I've tried and I've had many! Haha. The bread crumbs is the right kind, cheese is delicious and melts well and the ratio to meat is perfect. Curry sauce goes well with it but is pricey for what you get. In my opinion, the curry sauce could be made better, a little bland. If you order the Katsu curry, I'd recommend getting the curry on the side to keep the pork tonkatsu crispy.
Friendly service and tasty food. Cool atmosphere with some manga and toys on display. Had the tsukemen shio ramen and beef gyoza. Noodles were firm and chewy. Broth was clean and delicious. Egg was cooked perfectly. It came with 3 cuts of meat which were all seasoned deliciously. Beef gyoza was moist and tasty. Nicely browned on the outside. Dipping sauce was interesting tasted like ponzu sauce but not my cup of tea. Gyoza was great on its own anyway. Overall would come again.
Excellent. Had the pork loin katsu curry. And my partner had the shoyu ramen. Cute atmosphere, curry tasted like a homecooked meal. You tell a lot of care went into making the katsu. Delicious.Food: 5/5
