I have enjoyed dining at Chowder Pot for years. We recently went here on "Good Friday" as it was a "meat-free day" going to a seafood restaurant makes sense. I had swordfish with the sweet chili glaze (have also tried it prepared other ways in the past too including blackened, broiled, etc.) and all have been great. The dinner portions are generous and are accompanied by your choice of side items (vegetable, starch, etc.). I particularly enjoy the garden salad with their creamy garlic dressing. They also have the best bread (coated with a honey glaze). One loaf is not never enough for the table so don't be shy about asking for more. Their other seafood offerings are always exceptional too including: the salmon, lobster bisque, etc. Though it is a seafood restaurant, those who don't want seafood can also find other choices such as chicken, steak, and prime rib (for which they are well-known). They have nice wine, beer, and cocktail menu too. The restaurant is quite popular, especially on weekends. As a result there may be a bit of a wait for a table. You sit in the lobby or enjoy a drink in the bar area while you wait for your table. Once seated, service has always been very good. Chowder Pot also offers banquet facilities for events such office parties, weddings, etc (which are in a separate part of the restaurant). This Chowder Pot may not be in an ocean-front location (tucked away in a commercial/industrial area) but the food and service are great!!! Also there is plenty of parking. Enjoy!!!

This is a busy restaurant. Our wait wasn't too , too long. Once we were seated our waiter took our drink orders then food orders. Even though he was busy with other tables, he was caring and took care of our requests as quickly as he could. Food was very good. It is worth a trip here, but go early.

Visited with a group of 10. Service was slow, waitress wasn't the friendliest. At least two of our meals were not hot as if they had sat under the warmer for 20 minutes. Seemed dried out. Prices were pretty expensive but expected. Kids meals were decent. No refills of drinks were offered, even alcoholic beverages which would have increased the check and ultimately the tip. We felt a little ignored. Maybe the waitress had too many tables or other tables on the opposite side of the restaurant. This restaurant could definitely use some better management.

Me, my mom, and my grandmother all got the taste of Hartford for $20 each! The food was outstanding and we had to take all of our meals to go, couldn't finish them. We started with a lobster bisque, it was very creamy, not much lobster, but that's to be expected. Then we had the bread, which was very unique, soft and sweet. It was great to dip in the lobster bisque. Next was the salad which was pretty standard, they have a good ranch. Then came the main courses. My shrimp platter had 14 succulent shrimp and tons of fries all crisp, and the shrimp had an excellent bite. My grandmother had the fish, haddock I believe. It was very soft and flakey, great breading. Huge fillets, my grandmother remarked that she got a whole fish! My mom got the lazy lobster casserole, which has to be my favorite dish of the night, you get so much crab and the stuffing was delicious! it all came to $71.75 for three people and we had an outstanding meal. Thank you 😊

Be prepared to wait pretty long time especially the weekends. But the wait is worth it! Great food and very large portions. Most of what they serve is a variety of seafood dishes. However you can still find a lot of good options for steak or chicken too. I wouldn't recommend the wine too much though because it tastes a little too bitter. You'll love it here at Chower Pot though. Plus there's another second restaurant location somewhere near the shoreline. Haven't been to that one though yet.
