Travelodge Thunder Bay ON

This hotel went down in rating for me, last time I stayed there, I took my shoes off and the rug was damp, they should inform guests, if they shampoo them. Also there was woman’s underwear behind the side table, so gross. I usually check the cleanliness of rooms, I stay in. Have your staff be more thorough.

BED BUGS!!! Booked this room without reading reviews which was my first mistake. The first room I got in, pretty sure someone died in. Giant blood stain on mattress and smelt like actual death, decay and rot. So they gave me another room which smelled but not as bad, but upon inspecting the mattress, I found bed bugs. I always check for them in every bed that isn’t my own and this one was crawling with them. So I went to the front desk, told them and cancelled my reservation. To say she didn’t sound surprised is an understatement. She most definitely knew this place is spreading those parasitic little insects that not only make your life hell, but also cost thousands to get rid of. I’ve stayed in hostels in Africa nicer than this place. And the audacity to charge 150 a night is astonishing. I wouldn’t stay here if I was being paid.

The rooms are definitely out dated. We needed a place to sleep for 3 nights and this was our last resort so if you look for luxury and a clean place then this place wouldn’t be it. We had to take out one of the light bulbs out of bathroom vanity light because it was flickering rapidly. There’s a stain where the toilet paper holder is which I am afraid that it might be human waste. Food crumbs on the ground and a bag of empty alcohol cans under the bed. The bed sheets and pillows didn’t smell fresh so I’m also afraid that they weren’t even washed. The pillows itself all have 0 support for sleeping unless you like a flat pillow then they work for you. If you like a cold room to sleep in, you might as well just open the windows luckily we were on the second floor because the air conditioning barely works. The walls are super thin and you can hear everything that’s going on outside and in the hallways. I could keep going on and on. I’m not very picky of the places I sleep in but I know other people are so I’m just giving a heads up

The most DISGUSTING hotel that I have ever stayed in my entire life, I have seen derelict buildings in better shape. The room was filth, the bed sheets had stains, the walls were patched, stained, marks, the bathroom sink was rusted and to top it all, it cost $121

This hotel has what I needed for my stay. The service was good - no complaints. The surface cleaning in the room was good and the bed was comfy. The thing I will say is that this hotel is in dire need of a renovation. Or at the very least, an experienced maintenance team to look fmafter the bigger issues. I won't list what I saw but there is definitely work to be done.
