We decided to give this hotel a chance despite the negative reviews, as the location seemed convenient. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing.nnWhile the staff were friendly, they clearly lacked the authority to address the serious issues in the room. The level of cleanliness was unacceptable and far below what we expected for the price:nnThe bathroom was in poor condition, with water stains, soap scum, grime on the sink and shower grout, and possible mold on the ceiling. The bathroom door looked poorly patched and in need of replacement, and the floors were dirty and wet upon arrival.nnThe bedroom was covered in hair, and the blanket provided was a thin fleece throw rather than a proper comforter.nnMultiple stains on the bedsheets made it feel necessary to cover our entire bodies just to feel safe, and it was too late at night to request a change.nnIt felt like a cheap, poorly maintained hotel. We tried to request a refund after only 30 minutes, wanting to move to a different hotel, but were told it was too late after check-in.nnThis hotel urgently needs deep cleaning and renovation. Our experience was extremely disappointing, and we strongly advise others not to waste their money here.
The staff was great .. but the hotel in general is not great.. 1. The pool was closed and no where shared that.. our kids were super disappointed! 2. Our room was to be honest kinda gross! .. dust on everything the bathroom was a whole other story! 3. Bathroom .. just gross, hole in the ceiling mold along the bottom of the shower .. what look like to be paint spilled on floor, just dirty looking 4. Wall paper folding down on all the walls. The beds were clean and somewhat comfortable.. at end of the day we needed a spot to sleep but when you book a hotel with kids who think there is a pool and water slide … should have given us a discount after having to listen to two kids who were very upset!nI think a decade ago this would have been a great spot .. but it’s so outdated I would never stay again or tell anyone to! I’m sorry but it’s time has come and gone!
As an older couple, we stayed overnight in October 2025. The service at this hotel is always great. They are as helpful as possible. Our room was modernized and very clean. The bed was clean , comfortable and spotless. The TV worked great. Breakfast was good for a hotel breakfast. We had fresh, hot waffles, egg bites, yogurt and great coffee. The grounds and nearby park are well kept and beautiful. The location is great. It is very close to the Boat House restaurant, one of the best we are sure. Yes, it is a dated building. Yes, there are some shortcomings. We have stayed here many times on our way to Ottawa. It is a great family hotel.
The check in process was wonderful. The staff was friendly and courteous, very welcoming and made a positive first impression. The lobby was clean and professional looking. GOOD First impression.nnThe sad news is it was all downhill from there. The room was “cleaned” and yet walking around our socks and feet were Black with dirt. The bathroom looked like a renovation was done on a budget…the shower had large tiles, but did not have shelves for convenience and the bathtub faucet was in place even though it was a shower stall. Several finish issues in an “update” to the room paint drips on the wallpaper, open concept closet with the door track in place, and no available plugs accessible in the room. It was a good thing we brought our own hangers, because there was only 1 in the closet.nn“Missed it by That much” was the overall experience at the hotel. Will not stay here again.
While the 1980's clock radio in the room brought back good memories of my childhood, the old food under the bed brought back bad memories of my mother scolding me for not cleaning my room. The room was for lack of a better word disgusting. The room was dirty. The wallpaper was peeling. The carpet was dirty, and gross. The room key cards kept failing. The breakfast was awful. WAY overpriced! I could go on, but I'm trying to forget the experience, and I'm afraid to unlock repressed memories. The only good thing about the place was the staff. Avoid at all means!
