A must try. Sad I had not tried this place sooner. We dined in for lunch and it was very tasty. The food was hot and full of flavor. The sauces provided were varied enough that each of us were able to find one we liked I recommend the Alberta Sweet, it was good. I don't know what kind of pickle they gave but if you are a pickle fan you will love the one you get, it was delicious. The staff was great, our waitress was attentive and professional but still down to earth and welcoming. Parking: Parking on side of building, easy to access.
Finally made it to the Transit to try the new bbq joint out and it was fantastic. The three of us ordered a four-meat platter with a side of Mac and cheese and corn bread and it was more than enough food that we took some home. The meat was very tasty, particularly the brisket. Both sides were delicious as well. We went for dessert after and ordered the ginger cake AMAZING and the smoked blueberry ice cream very intriguing and delicious as well. One of the owners, Ray, stopped by our table to ask how things tasted, which was appreciated. There is love music every night as well. I will be back for more bbq!
It’s refreshing to see this 113 year old historic building still serving the same way it has been from day one. This can’t be said for most of Edmonton’s historic buildings. The smoked brisket was so tender that you could cut through with a plastic straw! The restaurant said that they are using certified angus beef and the quality was obvious right away. I also tried the family size portions very big of the sweet potato fries, dirty rice, and mashed potatoes. All of these items were great! The food and the vibe remind me of a road house bbq somewhere in Texas or Louisiana. It was refreshing to have the owner speak to us after we ate the meal to make sure we had a good experience.
Rave to a great local north side business! Just checked out Transit Smokehouse & BBQ last night and it was AMAZING!! The food was delicious and the owner was so friendly and came and spoke to us. They have blueberry smoked ice cream. And my 5 year old also loved all the food. Go waffle fries! Definitely worth a visit. Definitely will be back! It's right off fort road in an old hotel! Kid-friendliness: Has colouring photos and crayons, then post your child's drawing up at the front. Parking: Out behind the building.
Dropped in on a Saturday night for a date night. We had no idea what we were going for, we just thought it was cool that the old building had been bought and wanted some BBQ. Walked in and realized there was live music, as we were taken to our seats the atmosphere of the place was great. Our server was really nice and helped us make some choices. We got brisket and sausage as well as fries and ceaser salad and everything was yummy. The owner/manager came and spoke with us and was really friendly and asked how everything was. Even the musician came and spoke with us for a moment. We had a good time with good food and music and will be back!
Checked out this restaurant for the first time for my Dad's birthday. The food was absolutely amazing!!! Loved the history and the atmosphere inside. They had some great old tunes playing and we were told eventually there will be live music playing over the dinner hours. Felt like we were somewhere down south and gone back in time in all the best ways! The staff was great and the owner even stopped by to say hello and check in! Highly recommended checking it out!
Very busy. Grabbed some food for takeout. Ribs were tasty. The spicy Andouille sausage was not spicy. Sweet potato fries were good. I would advise to eat them hot.
I wasn't sure which side item to try, so I picked all 3, Mac & cheese, warm potato salad, mashed potatoes and they were all good. Brisket was amazing. It got a 4 as they were our of the chicken skins and I feel the menu could have a few more things... like a smoked Mac & cheese
We went here for the first time for lunch and took my youngest with us. The host/server was awesome right away. She was very friendly, helpful and informative, as this was our first time and we were ordering family style, we weren’t quite sure what or how much to order. She was very sweet with my little one and spot on with her suggestions for portions for us. The food was great- I highly recommend the brisket and the sausage- they were my favourite. I loved that you put your own sauces on the meat and that there was a good selection! Portions were big, we definitely had leftovers . Mac n cheese was good and the corn bread was good as well. They also serve the platter with coleslaw and buns that really make it perfect. I really look forward to coming back for dinner there one evening because it looks like they do some live music there and the place would be a blast with a full house! Kid-friendliness: They had colouring and colouring contest for the kids, which was a big hit. Parking: Parking is right on the side of the building on Fort Road.
Was their on Feb 19/22 friend took me out for birthday dinner and I had smoked chicken and side of garlic mashed potatoes the potatoes were hotter than my chicken owner comes out says how’s everything I tell him food is not hot-sends it back to get heated in oven and comes out again luke warm at best. Told him was good and that point why bother. Will never be a returning customer
