Service and ambience was great. Food not so much. Corn bread was stale, dry and crumbled. Pulled pork was dry and gritty. St. Louis ribs were old and tasted like they were cooked the day or so before and reheated under the broiler. The brisket was pretty good, unfortunately 1 LB seemed more like half. Sorry guys have to try harder, we won’t be back.
We visited this evening and had the "Ridiculously Fat Ass" burger, Mac & Brisket, and a full rack of ribs. The portions were large, and the prices were reasonable. The food was fantastic. The restaurant is small and very cozy, and clean. The service was also fantastic! The best BBQ we've had in a long time!
Amazing place to eat the staff was friendly and the meal was incredible. The portions are very generous and the flavor was fantastic. I highly recommend coming and getting your Sloppy Hogg on. The different flavored BBQ sauces we're a very nice touch to compliment the me. There are many sides to choose from when completing your order. The desserts looked great but we're not on my diet. Maybe next time!! Thank you!!
A weird mix of good and bad. Good: service was excellent. Decorations get you in the mood. Drinks were super delicious. The deep fried pickles were well breaded--thick and crunchy. The meat, we got ribs, was a great texture and had a great depth in flavour. The collard greens side dish was honestly the best thing we both had. Soooo savoury. The bad: jambalaya tasted like a can of diced tomatoes. Maybe its supposed to be this way. Other jambalaya I've had were great textures and was good and spicy. This was bland and mushy. I honestly dont know if it had chicken in it or not. The grits were tasty tho. Also the corn bread was... dry. I've had better cornbread on 14 dollar plates. The ice cream dessert cake tasted like it was from a grocery store. Overall: food is probably generally good. I saw the mac n cheese and brisket go by and it looked amazing. The lesson here is a lesson I'll never learn: dont order food that isnt the main draw. Sloppy hogs is a meat place--get the meat.
Absolutely fantastic. The staff are friendly and treat you well. The food was perfect and portions were great. We were seated within 30 seconds of walking in the door and food came out within 15 minutes of ordering. Would recommend to anyone who loves BBQ.
Came here for a birthday dinner for my mother with our family and it was amazing! Small perfect little place! The food portions are larger so come with your comfy pants! But the quality and taste if the food is a 10/10! Absolutely amazing. We recommend it and also will be returning!
My son comes to me and says "what are we doing for my birthday?" "What do you want to do for your birthday?" I ask. "I want to go to Sloppy Hoggs for chicken and waffles" he says with excitement. I said "Hell Ya, let's get us some serious grub!" Grabbed the rest of the family and we headed on down to BBQ house. We arrived and the place was hopping. Packed to the gills with hungry patrons. We waited a bit and then sat down. our poor server was running her little behind off trying and accommodate all the requests flying at her. Our family was of no help to her. We are loud, energetic and I have terrible dad jokes. My brother laughed saying he was going to order a whole chicken for himself and i said we should split the platter with a whole chicken and a full rack of ribs. He heartily agreed to my proposal. The platter was huge and could easily feed four people. Every bite was amazing. Each side dish was carefully prepared and tasted like it. My wife ordered the pulled pork nachos . My mom ordered the mac and cheese with brisket. One son also got the mac and cheese with brisket while my daughter had wings and the cutest salad ever. Of course the birthday boy got the chicken and waffles. Their waffle sauce is fit to happily drown in. If you are Edmonton and in need of delicious BBQ try Sloppy Hoggs Road Hus. I am sure you will not be disappointed.
This quiet little rustic environment was a great place to go for a birthday lunch. The service was a smidge slow but didn't worry too much about that cause the food was really good. Portions are good, food is good and prices are good. -1 star because of the service and the place was freakin cold....It was a cold day out but it was quite cold inside as well.
I enjoy it immensely their smoked BBQ was awesome I really enjoyed their beef brisket and pulled pork was awesome too. The chicken was on the dry side but their in-house BBQ sauce solved that issue right away!!! The staff was very friendly!!! FYI on the weekends be sure to reserve a table the place isn't very big and it fills up quick!!! There is parking in the front and the back! The portions are huge, I suggest you skip breakfast and lunch before eating here...We had the Game day platter and it's enough food to feed 4 people with the sides!!! My wife and I hardly put a dent into it!
Always tasty food and great service. One complaint would be that they charge $3 for a lemonade and then charge full price for each refill, it's a small thing that always bothers me no matter where I am
