God bless The Nature Conservancy for their stewardship of this simply remarkable piece of earth. While this time of year--the spring when Balsam Root comes alive--one will see a decent number of people out here exploring this stunning land, it still shocks me there aren't more people. I've been blessed to have seen much of this country, and this tiny stretch of highway 30 still has a magnetic appeal unmatched in our fair country. If Cascadia ever becomes the nation it should, it's natural center should be this find ecological wonderland.

Just visited this area the third week of May. The meadows are covered in wildflowers and grasses on the all the hills are green plus the view of the Columbia River is terrific. This is an easy drive and walk about, with nice pathways to follow.
