Went late in the day so the donut selection was pretty limited. Other than that, no complaints.

Typical Tim Hortons experience. Nice friendly service. Quick to get my coffee and gone.

I have been a customer of Tim Horton's for many years. I am not a coffee drinker and don't really care for their food either. However, I have enjoyed meeting up with friends there. My town, Antigonish, NS opened a new location this past spring and I have steadily watched the customer service and skill set deteriorate over the past year. My son decided to start working at a local Tim's and was hired for a baker's position. His hours were to be 5am-12pm. My son has always been a hard worker and puts his all into whatever job he does. He started working at the age of 10, mowing lawns and then delivering papers. He has been a swim instructor and a lifeguard. He has worked in a high end jewellery store and he has worked other jobs. Through these experiences he has gained many skills and his work ethic has continued to grow. He has never been fired from a job and he has never left a job on bad terms. He has many letters of recommendation to follow him and has been told by all past employers that they were sad to see him go. That is until he started working at Tim Horton's!!! For the past couple of months it has been nothing but a struggle for my son to go to work. When he started working at Tim's he would go in most mornings 30 minutes to an hour early. Many days he was asked or offered to stay past his shift if things were busy. He was promoted to head baker shortly after starting work there. Not only did he do his job, but he helped out where help was needed. When he found out he was accepted into fire fighting school he informed his employer that he would be finishing up in mid August. Within a couple months of given many months notice things began to change. My son was expected to do more than his job. He was expected to do parts of the supervisor's duties and then he would get in trouble if his own work wasn't completed. He was expected to train other worker's, which he didn't mind doing but when he would say they weren't ready to do things on their own, he wasn't listened to and the new employee would end up quitting. He was expected to carry out duties and was held to higher standards that other employees were not. Then his hours were changed and soon his hours were being cut and this is a kid who was working hard to save money to further his education. Things were getting so bad at work and he has tried on many occasions to speak to management, who were unwilling to take the time to meet with him or to listen to his grievances. He felt like he was left with no choice but to quit. He struggled for a two weeks trying to make the decision. I was concerned for his mental health as he has had problems in the past. In the end I encouraged him to do what was best for him and now he is being punished. The manager who runs the stores here, Chuck Boyd, is withholding his final pay because he did not give two weeks notice. I am fully aware, as is my son, that the courteous thing to do is give 2 weeks notice, but when employers are unwilling to work with employees to fix concerns you leave an employee with no option. I think it is time that the local locations stop and look at their training procedures, question why there is such a high turn over rate of employees and why so many people seem so disappointed with the standards. If the public only knew how you treat your staff, you are a disgrace to our community. Glenna Ingraham
