Story

The Townhouse Pub is a proper "local," a community supported restaurant, and a place to enjoy the renaissance of craft brewing and local food.

HOURS:
Tuesday/Sunday 4-10:30
Wednesday - Saturday 4-11:30

We have our own cask conditioned, hand-pumped, British style bitter ale on tap, plus 8 excellent Maritime microbrewed beers on tap–selections from Cape Breton's Big Spruce Brewery, Pictou's Uncle Leo's, Halifax's Granite Brewery, Propeller, & Garrison, and Boxing Rock from Shelburne, and many others making appearances on the rotating Guest Tap. Plus we feature excellent NS spirits and wine!

The Townhouse kitchen focuses on old-world and globally inspired rustic pub & taverna fare. We make almost everything we serve from scratch–pickles, chutneys, breads, desserts, patés, etc.– using the best natural ingredients. We are proud to work with excellent local suppliers:

- Knoydart Farm for organic cheese, Antigonish Co.
- Cabot Oysters from Havre Boucher, Antigonish Co.
- free range chicken from Crossroads Valley Farm, Antigonish Co.
- Antigonish, Guysborough & Pictou Co. beef & lamb from Vacheresse’s,
- The Pork Shop’s smoked sausages & bacon, Pictou Co.
- Ship Harbour mussels, Digby scallops, wild caught & in-land farmed fish from NS and Atlantic Canada
- & whenever possible we feature local produce sourced from small local producers like Seabright Market Gardens, Casey Vandesande, MacLennan’s Glen, Bethany New Growers, Quinn Farms, & Pura Vida Mushrooms.

Our food takes a little more work and time to prepare, but we feel it’s worth it and hope you do too. Cheers!

One of the more trendy restaurants in Antigonish with a varied menu that changes up somewhat regularly. My wife and I got take out after a recommendation from friends, and everything was well prepared and traveled well. The confit pork belly bowl was very succulent and well marinated. The squid ink risotto tasted quite good with a solid amount of calamari and scallops. We also got the garlic focaccia bread as a side and were very happy with it.
This is an absolutely amazing little pub right off of Main Street. The environment is warm and cozy. The food was amazing, note that the menus are limited, however they do have a wide variety of options. My table had the oysters to start, with the mushroom pate dish, both superb. For our meals we had the pork belly dish, mussels and fries and the nachos. Each dish was delicious and warm. My nachos came about 3-5 minutes after the rest of my table I barely noticed and they offered us cake and our choice of ice cream on the house. Both desserts were amazing, the ice cream is made in house and they have very fun flavours. Overall, this place is amazing! Our server was Kielan and he was great, good sense of humour, knowledge of food and knowledge of the town. 10/10 would recommend visiting!
We decided to sit at the bar. Awesome decision. Michael was our server/bartender and was very personable, made delicious cocktails & had some great food recommendations! We had scallops and lobster risotto. 10 out of 10. Calamari & halibut also looked amazing. Highly recommended. We’ll be back!
Nice spot in town, latest one open and was glas it was.nnFood was awesome. Cheeseburger and fries classic option but really hit the spot. Also had a few glasses of the Nova Scotia party ale and was impressed.nnService was on point, staff were attentive and made the experience better. Live music was awesome, had jazz going during my stay.nnDefinitely worth the visit if you're in town.
The service was steller, the drinks were quick, but the food did not measure up.nAfter being informed that a couple of items were not available which is fine, myself and accompanying college both fell to a menu substitution. Although tasty, was disappointing at the same time. The shrimp pasta overall was not a win. The shrimp was perfect, with a flavourful pepper crisp inspired sauce, layered with care. The pasta was overcooked with minimal texture. The value of The Townhouse rests in the service.
