The York Club

Story

The York Club is a private social club that was incorporated on November 22, 1909. It is located at 135 St. George Street in The Annex neighbourhood of central Toronto, Ontario, Canada, close to the University of Toronto. The club's building was originally constructed in 1889 as a residence for businessman George Gooderham Sr. (1830–1905) and his large family, taking nearly three years to complete. The home was designed in the Romanesque Revival style by architect David Roberts Jr., who also designed the Gooderham Building downtown. After George Gooderham Sr. died in May 1905, at the age of 75, his widow Harriet Gooderham (née Dean) sold the house and moved to a smaller home at 224 St. George Street. The York Club has owned the building since 1910.

Went to a private event here. Absolutely incredible. They served vanilla ice cream my 3 year old wanted chocolate and they brought chocolate ice cream in a silver bowl!!
Fortunate to be invited every year. Classic old school comfort and service.
Classic old Victorian building, beautifully preserved. Food was excellent and the service was spot on!
Yeah, so I didn't know that if you aren't wearing a suit, they look at you in about the same way white people looked at non white people in Alabama back in the 50's. The most pretentious place I think I've ever had the misfortune to find myself in.
What part of Dress Code do people like Johnny Humber not understand? If you prefer to dress informally, get yourself invited to Macdonald's.
Be sure to bring your jacket and tie and leave your phone at home. This place is unapologetically old-school. And lovely.
Nice private club. Was there for a funeral reception and staff and people were very friendly.
Private club must be members. Incredible service and atmosphere.
Employees there are always professional and a pleasure to work with
