The Wooden Monkey

I loved this place. I was visiting from Ontario. The view was fantastic. We sat on the patio and it was perfect, especially for a visitor who just loves to sit and look at the harbour over a nice beer and a plate of food. I found the menu had a great variety and the drink selection was definitely sufficient. It was not busy when we were there so the service was quick and friendly. I will definitely be coming back!!

This was the best meal I've ever had at a restaurant... Being someone who loves to cook, it's hard to be impressed when eating out. This is a gem of a place and will be where I go every time I'm in Halifax

This place used to be much more fancy and the prices reflect that. But now since they are trying to go for a more cozy, casual vibe, the prices have still not changed. For the food we got, the prices were a tad overkill. Our steak wasn't cooked medium as requested, our braised beef was very dry, the steak was so bland we asked for steak sauce with it but they didn't have any. Although the drinks were good and the wine recommendation was fantastic. The atmosphere was very nice, the indie music was genuinely good and the lighting and general feel was very cosy and classy. Once sitting though we noticed the tables were old and weathered, the table cloth was ratty, the menus were falling apart etc. It is possible that it was maybe an off day but overall it was a good visit although I feel you could get much more bang for your buck elsewhere.

A wonderful restaurant, that’s perfect for any occasion; on dates, out with friends or family, or even by yourself. A wide range selection of drinks and food, perfect for meat lovers, vegetarians, or vegans. Always a very welcoming atmosphere with very friendly staff.

Delicious stringy 3 cheese pizza. Amazing nachos and one of the best coffees I've ever had. Friendly staff and great atmosphere!
