Finally! A decent place to enjoy delicious Pakistani cuisine. Went for iftar and there were 160 guests seated on reserved tables. Service went smooth and everyone was served. No empty dishes, and servers were on the move. Pleasant experience but recommend reserving a table well ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
First of all I have reduced the stars due to last night experience. We booked a table for 3 for Iftar buffet 3 days ahead. All excitedly when we went, this lady at the counter tells us we have to share the table with some one else we don’t even know. Let me tell you reserving a table means separate table. This is the first time a restaurant lacks this basic understanding. What makes you feel we will be comfortable sitting with unknown people and how do you take make that decision without even asking or informing us prior to the time. The rude lady need to learn manners on how to provide customer service. When we objected to sharing she tells she has 1000 people to take care off, we are not the only customer. Listen lady, your 1000 people are because of people like us. The other guy kinda understood her mistake and finally gave us a place to sit in a hall. Then we we are about to break fast, she barges in saying she has a table for us take it or leave it. We went and say there. In no time a guy comes saying that’s their table. I was just loosing it. Then he sat on next table and telling the servers including her that we took their table. This lady didn’t even Acknowledge that its was her who gave us that table to sit. Man!!! I went there because of the good food but she spoiled it thoroughly and I regret even reserving here. Now I am not sure I will go back. Thats a drastic experience I had from first visit to the last! Amazing food Amazing service Amazing ambiance!!! I will definitely keep visiting. Their kababs, biryani, nihari is just awesome. Best kababs in whole Vancouver. Mouth watering food. The feel is so arabian and cave like. Very innovative interiors. The chef definitely knows how to cook delicious food. Must must visit place.
I like food taste. Serving time was quick. Restaurant was clean. Staff is friendly. Seating capacity is small though. Overall good experience.
Such tender chicken breast, literally was falling apart in all the right way! Just the right amount of heat. Appeared to be family run business. Love to support those type of businesses and restaurants. Could definitely feel the love in the food
My family went to Village BBQ. We had ordered out once from there previously but our chicken was under cooked and drinks that was included as a part of the meal was not even offered. The owner himself delivered chicken that was properly cooked in replacement of the under cooked chicken and we were very thank for it. We decided to try it out again. The series of issues that took place tonight makes me feel sick to my stomach whenever I hear or think about the Village BBQ. It’s upsetting enough to receive poor customer service from staff but to also receive it from the owner himself and him defending all the actions that took place is beyond unforgivable. Below is an outline of my husband and my opinions: -washrooms are not equipped with baby change tables. -I used the handicap washroom and the floor was very dirty with small pieces of tissue paper everywhere. -table was sticky. We wiped it down ourselves as we did not complain. -During Order taking - Good -Glassware: 3 of the 6 glasses given for drinks were dirty. - 1 of 2 plates and fork had food particles stuck to it. -Appetizers came but cutlery/plate/napkins were not given. We had to ask for it. Main course came wrapped up like fast food take out and was piled on top of each other on one server plate. No food presentation effort taken. Food - tasted very good but now after spotting so many dirty dishes wondering if cooking bowls/dishes/utensils are dirty as well meaning the food is contaminated with food particles as well. By this point we were both upset and called the manager. We advised him the service is not the greatest and there’s food particles on multiple dishes. When asked one to replaced with a clean one but we received an even filthier dish. The manager said he is training someone so it is what it is and in regards to the dirty dishes he was busy at the moment and will come back. We waited and he never did. We called the owner, as I had his number from the take out issues previously, to speak with him. We let him know that the food was good but the service and cleanliness is very poor and a health issue. He advised us that new staff is training but as for the dirty dishes it is nothing and okay to drink from. He said it must be an issue with the dishwasher and we will have to follow up to have it serviced tomorrow. Meanwhile it is okay to service customers with dirty dishes. He also stated that so many people are here but only you we are complaining. Many don’t check their dishes because they expect it to be clean when they eat out. However the owner argued with us saying that it’s okay and he can’t do anything. He remembered me from the under cooked chicken issue and was defending the fact the chicken was cooked based off the thermometer reading. When I asked him what is the thermometer reading supposed to be when the chicken is done he stated 300 Fahrenheit which is incorrect so he either not cooking it right or he was making it up because he didn’t know the answer. He never once apologized until we called him out on it and even then it wasn't until towards the end of the conversation. I asked him why we weren’t given drinks at our last order when it clearly stated includes drinks and he said because it’s fountain and not everyone wants it, which means we are paying them extra. There should be a to go pricing that does not include drinks. Also it doesn’t not specify on the menu which drinks only "drink" so when we asked for mango lassi we were denied our request and was advised it’s only for pop which is something they need to reword on their menu. The biggest frustrating is that the owner argued to say it's okay to drink or eat off of out of filthy dishes. We were not compensated for the poor service or any issues we had, we ended up paying full price and did not receive any drinks from the previous order, as we were told "I will take care of it by the manager" but nothing was done. I will never be going here again and if you care about cleanliness and your health I wouldn’t suggest going to this restaurant.
Worst place ever, food particulates from dishwasher left on cutlery/dishware and inside glassware as per the information given by the owner when asked. Talked to the owner and was told "it's not a big deal, you guys are the first to complain". If eating/drinking utensils are as such, then only one could imagine what the cookware is like and what cross contamination has taken place within the cooked food itself. I consulted with family and consensus is that owner always has an excuse to defend himself and the food rather than an apology and constructive criticism as you can clearly see by his reply. Nothing was compensated for, and I paid every dollar plus a 10% tip to show I'm not about getting free food. I have included the receipt as proof of purchase. I apologize to everyone reading the review, I had crumpled it and dug it out of the trash can just so I could show proof of purchase. As you can see nothing was comped. The same night I encountered a lot of indigestion and gas, long and behold, ended up with diarrhea. What made me the most upset was, that he thought it was okay to touch the cheeks of my 3 month old baby boy with his dirty long finger nails as he tried to smooth over the situation by using my children as a deflection. Extremely disappointed, and upset.
Awesome food, good prices. The bihari kebab is amazing so tender and perfectly spiced!
This is one of the best BBQ place in Canada. I have organized my Moms 80th Birthday here and despite of few negative reviews I choose this place cause I loved the food and the service and honestly they actually changed the entire setup of their banquet hall. My Mom and all the guests were amazed with the decor and the food. Service was top notch by the manager here. If you like Pakistani fusion place, this is it.
Our experience was terrible, unfortunately. The menu consisted of a total of 5 mains, 2 of which were vegetarian. There was only one BBQ item, and no dessert. We were charged $25 per head for that measly meal. We may have given the owner the benefit of the doubt, but there was no waiter or staff member assigned to clear the plates from the tables, water was not served to any of our guests and when we asked for service we were told that the staff was too busy to take care of us. We were paying for a service, not eating food for free. With the amount of money being charged, the owner does not have the right to behave as if the customers are being done a favour, not the other way around. The management at Village has a huge attitude problem, and I know that we will not patronize Village BBQ again. We had been planning a birthday party for 125 guests at Village. After this experience, we will be taking our business elsewhere.
Went here with expectations, but left disappointed! First off, I don’t recommend to go here if you are very hungry! The food takes 30 to 45 mins to arrive. It’s stated on their menu. The meat is over-tenderized and lacked any sort of texture and taste. The spices overwhelm the taste buds and none of the meats’ flavour is translated over to your mouth. For a place with ‘BBQ’ in the title, the food did not have the unique bbq flavour. The tandoori naans were flat and lacked the fluffy core, as if they were chapatis. The decor is intriguing and enjoyable and the service was adequate.
