Absolutely loved my dinner there. I chose the "The View Mac N Cheese" and oh wow, that was tasty! Very generous portion! A lot of flavours! Price represent a fancy place and they deliver on the fancy side! Service is "not fast", but who is on a rush when they go there? Enjoy a really nice plate, take your time and enjoy every bites!
The food is outstanding! Really excellent quality and value. The bread plate with oil and vinegar is a must try. The lamb was so tender and the veggies and sauce that comes with it are so good! I didn't enjoy the mushroom side plate; way too much sauce that masks the flavour. Overall, I highly recommend it.Food: 5/5
I'm still dreaming about The View Seafood Mac & Cheese. My friends and I were visiting from the Mainland for one night and The View was one of the top places that showed up in a Google search for dinner options. Having read all of the glowing reviews we decided to give it a try and I'm so glad that we did! Our server was so lovely and friendly. The ambience is beautiful, I just wish it were a little warmer as the place we sat towards the back of the restaurant was quite chilly. We ordered the Calamari and Prawns Gratin for appies and then split the three entrees: Seafood Mac & Cheese, Linguine Capesante and Seared Halibut Risotto. Everything we tasted was incredible! We were sad that we weren't more hungry and unable to finish everything. That was some of the best Mac and cheese I've ever tasted. We had a lovely evening here and I would highly recommend a visit if you have the time. Definitely recommend booking a re so ahead of time though as the earliest we could get a table was 8pm. I'll just be dreaming of these entrees again until my next visit.
We tried the View Oceanside and it was simply beyond expectations. The food was excellent and beautifully plated. We started with the mussels and clams followed by sesame crusted tuna tataki for myself and seafood mac and cheese for my daughter. Every dish was tasty and the portions were pretty big so, bring your appetite! Our server Shanelle was friendly and very professional. It was a great experience!
I ordered the Lamb Sirloin $29, which comes on a bed of scallion whipped potatoes and seasonal vegetables, topped with Dijon mustard. Flavor-wise this was delicious! Really enjoyed the sharp Dijon with the lamb! I felt parts of the lamb were too rare though, making it quite chewy. Otherwise it would've been a perfect dish! My partner ordered the Beef Tenderloin Schnitzel $30 after seeing a nearby table order it. It was so good!! I kept nibbling on his dinner! I really loved the spaetzle, it was chewy and flavorful. The schnitzel was crunchy and the parmesan with the panko crusted definitely elevated the flavors of the dish! Did I mention this was a very generous portion size?? Only thing out of place was that some parts of the beef were a bit thin, so it was too dry after frying. Overall very satisfying and tasty dish though! Also took a picture of my friends Alaskan King Crab and Lobster platter $80 he said it was generous in portion and fresh! Looked really good This was a delightful dinner, aside from waiting 80 minutes for food hence the loss of one star. Service was friendly and attentive, food portions were good, I'll be back for sure to try more stuff!
Sharon was our server and absolutely so friendly. She would be my good friend If I lived in nanaimo. The food was amazing! The portions are basically two meals. And the flavors, seafood are top qaulity and cost is fantastic for the great quality of food. Hats off the the chefs, the ambiance and the friendly servers.
Our server Shaina was amazing. The food was phenomenal. Drinks were good and the atmosphere very cute. The seafood flambe was very filling and the sauce is delicious :3 I was surprised how well the Ricards liqourice flavored liqeur for the flambe went with it all. Highly recommend. Dress up, have fun!
Absolutely outstanding. I cant tell you in a few short words how amazing the food was at the View. The flambe is really cool, but every dish had flair and panache and flavor and ... yum! Friendly service, very reasonable prices and I know I'll be back! Update: try the Bavarian cream pie! It's outstanding!
Delicious dining experience. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and hubby ordered the Halibut. Both were exquisite and the staff was very friendly. Love the idea of tipping the kitchen with a beer jug which we did. Love the place will return for sure . Parking: On the street
Service was great and prompt, with the friendly staff. Food however was a bit inconsistent, with either overcooked seafood or with seasoning. One thing to note was how the garnish were tasty, such as the kale salad...I was reminiscent of how it reminded me of those prepared kale salads that you can buy in the prepared salad section of the grocery store. We also had the lingcod and salmon. Lingcod was borderline overcooked, with the prosciutto wrapped around saving it. However, the salmon was wildly overcooked. The server was quick in remediating the issue, but when the salmon came back...it was now undercooked. However, I would rather have undercooked than overcooked, so I just continued to eat. The seafood in the Oscar sauce was also over-reduced w/ seafood slightly overcooked as well. If anything, the calamari were delicious and very well fried. Tldr: I was disappointed, but the service was amazing. Thanks to the front staff. So much for "#1 seafood restaurant in Nanaimo".
