Fine dining with a touch of elegance. Located in a converted old school, the steak and seafood restaurant is the best in Markham. It has a spacious, nicely decorated interior with a quiet, warm ambiance. Delicious, perfectly cooked foods with a good portion size. Price is definitely on the expensive side. Courteous staff, and fast service. There is plenty of parking in a well maintained parking lot. Overall, it is a pride to Markham.
PETER IS THE BEST to work with! My wife Ada and I wanted an elegant intimate wedding reception and Peter really went above and beyond to make our vision come to life. Peter took care of every detail and made the entire event planning process so easy. This venue is perfect for any event. The food was amazing, staff was on point, ambiance was beautiful. Thank you so much Peter for everything.
We have used The School for two family events approx 70 people in their private room and both times the experience was fantastic.nnPeter is wonderful to work with, organized, easy to get a hold of, and had great suggestions. Everything I had requested was set up perfectly and looked amazing. His staff and their service was exceptional. The space was beautiful, private and had lots of natural light.nnThe food was fantastic and cooked to perfection.nnThis is the perfect space for baptisms, showers, small weddings and milestone parties.
Absolutely great service and atmosphere.nI must say that the quality and food is good but not excellent for the price you pay. The mashed potato was cold, the filet mignon was average. the soup of the day was tasteless, you get a decent bread but that's it. It's on the very expensive side so you're hoping for a different level of food quality.
2024 July 4nLocation wise, wouldn't expect this place to be here.. it's is like it's on its own island. Lots of parking though.nStep inside this fashionably old building and it's a decent atmosphere. Clean and classic.nnHouse salad $12nOrganic greens, shredded carrots and beets. House dressing. Not bad.nnFilet Mignon 10 oz. $64nCenter cut beef tenderloin, wrapped in bacon and broiled. Served with side of vegetables and choice of potato.nnPistachio gelato.nPistachio gelato with some coffee like portions that included pistachio bits on top. Pretty good. Would recommend.nnFood was good. Service itself was good. Not cheap though.
