Gal's Sushi

First off, the few times I’ve been here, the sushi was pretty good. They have a good lunch time special that is pretty worth it! Your order comes with a complimentary salad, noodles and potatoes. I just wish they would switch it up a bit as you ALWAYS get the same thing. Can’t complain too much though as it’s free... The quality isn’t always consistent though and the service is really mediocre. I have to ring the little bell every time because the waitress never comes to check up on you and you have to ring multiple times because they’ll just ignore you.

One of my favourite sushi places in the city. I go quite often with my friends to dine in, or order take out trays. They always provide friendly service. One time we were celebrating a friends birthday at Gal’s and the manager Charlie got us mango ice cream with candles as well as sake. It was very sweet. The quality of their sushi is always fresh! Great food, for a great price.

I've been a satisfied customer for years. But not anymore. The prices have gone up and the quality has significantly decreased. The service is terrible 85% of the time. The sushi quality is always hit or miss. When they run out of certain items, they substitute it with something else without notifying you first. See photo attached. To the left is the tuna that was originally served to us. The tuna was mushy and falling apart. To the right is the tuna they served us after we complained. How did they think it was acceptable to serve us that disgusting mush on the left??

Just had lunch here with my husband and son. The service from Rachel was prompt and very pleasant. This is extremely important to us. The food was fresh, hot and very tasty. Definitely worth going to.

Pros: Really fresh sushi. Great pride and quality. Complimentary salad and rice noodle appetizer. Comfortable seating. Wide selection of sushi and other dinner items. Cons: Service can be poor. The cash register lady will boldly ask for a tip or point out not tipping enough. The service really ruins your experience here. We tipped 10% of our meal of $30, because the service was really bad. When we paid, the cash lady points to the receipt and says " you only tip $2.80?" Not a good experience, and we've been here a few times. Definitely worth it for the quality of sushi they serve.
