There was 6 of us traveling to Vancouver from Edmonton for the first time and this was our first stop when visiting Granville Island. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, service was great, and seafood was top notch! We even noticed one of the bar tenders who performed on stage at the Funky Winker Bean the night before!nnThe only thing that would have made the experience better would be to be seated along the waterfront. We will definitely return!
My first time coming here with a friend that came into town. It has a romantic kind of atmosphere which makes me think I might take a date here in the future. Food was good and the seafood was fresh. I ended up getting the cold platter, I don’t remember what it’s called in the menu but see the photo for reference. It was enough to feed just me but if you’re a small eater you might want to share it but most of the platter is shell so keep that in mind. My friend ordered just a whole crab and it came with rice and veggies, I was a bit disappointed to find the head was cleaned out of all the yummy stuff but that’s my Asian palette talking here. The service was very friendly.
The ambience and atmosphere at Sandbar is great, you are greeted with beautiful decor and a view of Vancouver while located at Granville. The service here is fantastic, but just note that there is a flight of stairs to climb before you actually enter the restaurant, so it may not be elderly friendly.nnThe food is here is decent, perhaps I’ve eaten similar food at other places but I personally feel that I wasn’t blown away by the food here. It is also expensive. Despite this, the service here was excellent, as the server was enthusiastic to serve us promptly and quickly whenever we needed assistance.nnIf you’re stopping by at Granville, you could pay this place a visit.
This was my second time dining here, last time was many years ago. I was surprised that they offer fresh sushi as if we are at Japanese restaurant or blue water cafe type of setting. The dinner menu has redesigned various of choices. We ordered sable fish highlight at dinner, fresh oysters, crab cake, few sushi rolls. Overall we enjoyed our dining, quality of food is solid, and live music -bonus. Our waitress was really kind to offer us a complimentary chocolate moose cake when mentioned my bday celebration. Would definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu. Plus I love coming to Granville island since high school- one of my favour destinations in Vancouver.
What a phenomenal restaurant. We were taken up to the heated covered patio upstairs, it was cozy and we were able to see all the boats. We had fresh oysters, mussels and crab cakes. They were incredible. The fish was fresh and I would come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend. The service was 10/10 as well.
