Never i mean never go to the dmv downtown. I was in a car accident and was tryna switch registration to another vehicle. All i needed was proof of insurance wen i was in a car accident. I called Albany personally and was informed of the information i already needed. So i went down there and they told me that i needed two separate forms to be one one page. I’m like whattt. It shouldn’t matter just staple it together. She told me no they don’t do that . So i went and got it remind u she says that’s all i will need. Come back and now she’s informing i need a mv f88 form i went n got that then comes back n says i need a police report. Long story short i talked to dmv Albany and they stayed they never received anything from the dmv the lady was lying the whole time saying she was faxing over information and Albany was denying it

I've had to go to the DMV twice this year. I always dreaded going to the downtown location not only because of how busy it gets (both the Amherst and downtown locations always are) but also because it's dreadful finding parking downtown on weekday. Thankfully there's a parking lot across the street next to the main place mall that runs for about 2.00/hr or so. For the first visit I came when it just opened so I got taken care of shortly after. The second visit (on a thursday at 12pm-ish), it was relatively busy but the most I had to wait was 10 minutes, maybe less, which I was pleasantly surprised about. The employees may look a little gruff but the person who took care of me was gentle while explaining to me what needed to be done, and I'm pretty clueless when it comes to titles, registration, etc. All in all, if you have to go here -- don't be so intimidated. You shouldn't be anyway.

I only come in to use this location: 1. If I have time to waste away. 2.) If I don't mine being misinformed so have to wait in a long line twice. 3.) If I don't mine losing some self respect for myself cuz I knew better than to go to that location. Ps. The average REAL WAIT is 45 minutes to an 1hour and 30 minutes. Only if you don't have to wait twice.
