Story

The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.

The new, elevated menu will bring back supper club favorites, like the relish tray, chicken pot pie, and popovers along with some new interpretations of classic dishes like the pot roast. The cocktail menu is no different; offering a new riff on classic cocktails like an old fashioned, a brandy slush and an ever-changing social hour punch of the day.

Now, more than 80 years later, we invite you to be part of the legacy - whether it’s your first visit or you’re returning to reminisce about the past. We invite you make new memories or revive old traditions as the familiar landmark welcomes you back. Welcome to The Lexington!

Service was only out done by the food. Our server Ryan did a fine job. The support team was like a well oiled machine. Our visit was for our family Christmas dinner. I'd recommend The Lexington to others. They called me in advance to confirm my reservation. Parking was great, immediately behind the facility. The meat was prepared to our wishes. While we did not take time for service at the bar, it looked like a comfortable place for a beverage. The architecture and finishes are very well done.

Had the porcini crusted steak and it was cooked to perfection! It was nearly fork tender and the cream sauce on top was excellent. The only reason I give it four stars is for the high prices. While I don't mind paying for great food, the costs of the dinner entrees are a little high since you have to pay extra for your sides (vegetables, potato, salad, etc.). Otherwise, the renovated restaurant is beautiful and the service was fantastic.

Very good food, pork chop is phenomenal! Atmosphere is pretty good, but not amazing. Service is bar was pretty slow, but it was packed, and I do not fault them too much. If service was quicker, 5 stars for sure.

Top 5 restaurant in the cities by far. Such a great menu, so much variety. Amazing waitstaff. What a unique establishment, so classy and elegant. It’s definitely a must try for anybody wondering.

There were 12 of us for a 5:30 pm reservation on Saturday night; we were celebrating 4 birthdays. The room we were seated in was so noisy we couldn't visit, and we asked to be seated elsewhere. The new location meant we were split into two groups, and the noise level was almost as bad as the first room. Our waiter was attentive and the food was tasty - we had drinks, entrees and extra sides. However, the clincher came when I asked the waiter to bring a small dessert that could be shared by all, with a candle on it. A very small (5 x 5") chocolate dessert was brought with 4 candles, giving each of us a tasty spoonful. Much to my surprise, I was billed $8 for this. Considering that our cumulative bill approached $1000, I think this dessert should have been complimentary. I have told a number of friends who have considered going to the Lexington to celebrate a special event to think again. I will not go back.
