The Keg's dining atmosphere has never disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised by the beef wellington. Crust was cooked to perfection and the beef was tender and flavorful. May have been dry aged? Not a big fan of the calamari though, felt like the crust wasn't established that well and the calamari flavor wasn't strong enough. Definitely would recommend the beef wellington if you have never tried it. And the free ice cream cake for birthday celebration is always a plus.
My partner and I spent our anniversary night here for dinner. We made a reservation and showed up a bit early, but our table was ready so they sat us promptly. Staff at the front door were very friendly! Ali was our server & she was great. Very personable and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered drinks and appetizers; gin basil lemonade to drink, escargot, scallops & bacon to start. Drinks came promptly and so did the apps. My partner ordered the steak and lobster for dinner. He thoroughly enjoyed it, but the lobster was slightly underwhelming for the price. I ordered the pistachio crusted salmon and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly and hot when it hit the table. Ali brought us the Billy Miner Pie to finish the night and it was the a lot but the perfect dessert. Will definitely be back!
My husband and I went for my birthday and we had a fantastic time at The Keg. He phoned for a reservation and asked to have the booth right at the windows and were accommodated beautifully the atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. The service was excellent attentive but not to much , the waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and the wine list he suggested a delicious bottle of wine that went great with our dinner. We enjoyed French onion soup to start it was perfect, then my husband had the steak with veg and baked potato topped with sour cream and I had the steak and lobster served with a baked potato, I also had a Caesar salad . Our steaks were cooked perfectly the lobster done to perfection. Everything from start to finish was delicious. To finish off the perfect dinner we were brought a fabulous dessert Billy miner pie , it was so yummy . Thank you for the wonderful evening we can't wait to come back.
Amazing experience. For a place that has mostly seafood not a seafood lover I got the ribs, food was amazing! Staff was great. Couldn’t of been a better place for a date night. Waiter Elijah made our stay perfect. Gave us the billy miner Ice cream cake for dessert on the house. Highly highly recommend.
This was our first dining experience at The Keg at 300 King Street East, Kingston. We were celebrating a later dinner for my husband's birthday, being seated in the bar section at the back corner. We waited almost 15 minutes for a server to come to our table. Our server employee #74 was happy in taking our entire order and told us that our choice of New Zealand Stoneleigh Sauvignon Wine was not available due to difficulties getting this wine. She suggested a comparable white wine also from New Zealand, having us taste test the wine first. After her leaving the bottle at our table, we read the label and it was from France. The food / kitchen servers were true "Keg" excellence with our escargot app and favourite Keg burger. Asked our server for extra fries, but it didn't happen. We even had to ask another server for glasses of water. We didn't see our server again in the bar section or at our table until she dropped off the bill and birthday dessert to go. Another 10 minute wait and no-show at our table to pay by credit card, we ended up going to the bar to try to pay there instead. The bar keeper was unable to process it and had to get our server to come to the bar to complete our transaction. Unfortunately a disappointing "server" experience at this Keg, especially for a birthday celebration.
If you want to treat yourself, this is the place! The food is to die for and the service is great. It was busy when we were there but it wasn't a long wait for food or drinks. The server made sure we were happy and our drinks were full. If it's your birthday you get a free dessert.
Wowza! We had an excellent dining experience for my birthday dinner. We had a late night reservation and we had the dining area to ourselves. Our server, Reg was the best we have ever had. Attentive, knowledgable, and so very kind. We will request him the next time we come! The mushrooms Neptune were sooo good, our favourite everytime we come. They are jam packed full of crab meat. We also got the steak and shrimp with double baked potato, vegetarian meatloaf, and reg provided us a piece of billy miner pie to celebrate my birthday. It was to die for! The steak was cooked perfectly. Really there is nothing more we could have asked for.
Elijah was a great waiter. Knew the menu - had good recommendations and was really great to chat with. He is definately an asset and we were sure to let his manager know. Prime rib was wonderful and The Keg sized drinks did not disappoint *ceasar and mojito. The location was in walking distance to our stay and central to many other attractions a bear claw on the way back to the room was a perfect end to a great dinner right across the street. Will definitely visit again!
We did not regret our decision to dine at the Keg for one of our date nights. Our first time there, we're worried the food wouldn't be worth the prices. But the food was superb! Nicely plated, cooked to perfection and had so much flavour. We had the teriyaki steak with side of fresh veggies beets and green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. We also decided to try the Caesar Brussel sprouts for our app and let me tell you- amazing! I also had the watermelon cosmo, delicious. The staff were professional and attentive. Our waitress was one of the best we have had! The dining room manager came over to the table to ensure all was up to our expectations. The atmosphere was a tad dark and confined but picturesque in a way because we had the view of the outdoor skating rink across the street and it was beautiful! Thanks Keg! We will definitely be back!
It was my husband retirement dinner. I made reservations, we arrived 4:00,we had been there for my birthday the end of November, we don't eat out at restaurants because of $$$ So where it was a special event we wanted to enjoy ourselves have a wonderful evening. When we first arrived we showed the girl our cards to prove we had our shots, then the other girl screaming out you have to have the keos to scan,we didn't have that, so we stepped aside to do this task, thinking why wasn't I told this when I made the reservation. So,the gentleman called me,took us to our seats, very nice area by the fireplace, as we sat our water came over introduced himself, then came back to take our orders, he was wounderful very pleasant. Our meals came,I had order steak and lobster dinner, very good, my husband dinner looked very good till he cut into his steak, it was red ray..then sitting there trying to get someone attention, he flag four people down no one came, then I got up myself to get someone attention. The girl from the front, I asked her if she could get someone to take my husband steak back to cook it more, she came over ,she looked at his steak to see it was not cooked to what he wanted, she said so you want it cooked brown? My husband wanted medium raw it was raw,it was brought back cook more, but still raw in places,he chose not to eat it. He was very disappointed, as I was for him wanting this to be a nice evening for us. The manager came over asking how our dinner was unaware of the problem with his steak, he saw he didn't finish his dinner. He then offered us dessert for free. When our water came over he was very appageck ,...nothing he did.. he was very good at his job. He came back with the desert menu, he said anything but icecream... everything had icecream on it or was icecream...cheesecake was all we could take..we don't like cheesecake We got our bill, $177.with tip $200. It was not enjoyable other than the company, I felt bad for my husband hoping this would be a nice dinner, and it was very disappointing We have decided we will not come back. Heather and Dave
