One of the best places to study on UBC campus. The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre is clean, bright, and spacious, with lots of different seating options depending on whether you want silence or a collaborative vibe. There are tons of power outlets, great Wi-Fi, and even a little café downstairs if you need a break.nnThe highlight for me was the Ridington Room — it seriously feels like something out of Harry Potter. Tall ceilings, vintage portraits, and big windows with beautiful natural light. It’s a silent study space and super peaceful. It gets busy fast though, so come early if you want a seat!nnHighly recommend for students or anyone looking for a quiet, inspiring place to read or work.
Last week during my own session only day 1 Friendship Day Panda ACC Camp by Speech Meta, the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre IKB was quiet and I can focus on my work. There were a lot of space and empty seats too. I felt like I’m having fun, engaged, happy, and excited, that day-time. I like it that way!
The historic Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, located at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, is captured on December 31, 2024. This architectural blend of heritage and modernity serves as a key academic hub for students and researchers.
Really modern and spacious library. Quite busy, so it’s hard to find seating at times.
The Ridington Room at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre is one of my favourite and most creative places to work. Whether I am writing a book, researching a challenge, or planning my year, the towering windows, wooden desks, and quietness of the space always makes me productive. As a UBC Alumnus a bonus for me is seeing the paintings of UBC’s past Presidents.
