Stumbled across this gem off the beaten path on route to pick up a book at a used bookstore, and I'm really glad we did!! The historic charm of the building and neighbourhood is immediate. With street and retractable canopy outdoor seating, and indoor restaurant and bar places to sit, there are plenty of options to enjoy a beverage and a bite to eat. The food was great as was the service!
Went with my fiancee and a friend a few weeks ago. Definitely a nice neighborhood pub- currently nice for outdoor seating, and seems to be OK with the dogs outdoors. The speed of service was good, we didn't have to wait longer than about 8-10 minutes until our order was taken, and it looked like a busy night. The food was brought out in a timely manner as well, nothing was missing, food was hot. I has the fish burger with avocado. Unfortunately the avocado didn't do so much for me but it was good nonetheless. I would definitely come back to try more menu items, as they looked really good as well.
I want to like this place because we live in the neighbourhood. However the past 3 times we have been here in the past few months, the service has been slow and uncommunicative and the food has been meh. The menu looks good on paper but its not the best quality. We have tried a lot of items and the best thing to get there is the chicken fingers. The steak sandwich says its supposed to be a flatiron steak, and when it came out it was most definitely not a flatiron it was super thick. The fish burger was sad and flavourless.
Love this place! Great pub food and fine selection of ales. We have a dog and it’s so good that we can bring him to the patio. The quaint village feel tops the experience off. Highly recommended! PS Jenna was an awesome server!
Wonderful food. Service was quick but didn't rush you. Menu has great selections making it hard to decide, but with the choice made will be back to try other menu items for sure.Food: 5/5
Best bartenders in town. They all make you feel welcome. I came to victoria alone and eating here alot and drinking here was a nice way to make new friends. Love this place !! 4 years later still the best place
Wow, great food and service for a very reasonable price. No wonder this place is so busy. I ordered the chicken strips, it was enough for two meals. I like it that they serve a 6 oz glass of wine. My rose was only $10. Lots of choice for wine, beer and cocktails. Downside, it was uncomfortably cold in the restaurant so we didn't linger. Parking is extremely limited so you may have to hike a few blocks. Read the parking signs carefully.
Great happy hour prices, huge basket of yam fries with aioli for $6 and a $5 pint of lager. Primo.Food: 5/5
I wanted to love this place as soon as I drove by. It's such a cool building, and the interior is welcoming. Our service was awesome, and our appetizers were delicious! The main course, however, was a major letdown. I had the steak sandwich, and I don't fault the chef one bit. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, but the cut was just so tough I could barely get through it. My partner had the cod burger, which was absolutely awful. The cod was not breaded, so there was zero flavour, and it just fell apart after the first bite. The avocado was barely existent on the burger, and it was just not a good menu item. I'd go back again and maybe try something different.
decent and slight better than average pub food. a little on the pricey end. love the outdoor street patio. chill ambiance.
