What a disgrace. This place is of course only a reflection of Chinese governance. It's a shame that it should display itself as such to a country that has been so hospitable to its citizens.

I am sharing my experience after visiting both embassies 6 times. I am lucky that I live in Toronto and unlike others who come from other cities and provinces, I was able to get some answers. I was given wrong information by 3 different rep's. The website for embassy is outdated and there is no help provided over the phone. I felt sick the second day visiting the embassy because it was crowded and there is no air at St.George office. How shameful is it that we are treated like second class citizens. Your staff members are very unhelpful and you confuse your clients. If you take a few days to train your staff and members of the embassy I can guarantee that there will be a lot less visits and less issues for your staff/clients. How about providing detailed help over the phone and having a separate area for questions/answers at the St.George location?I have to go back in on Monday....all of this confusion could have been avoided had the security guy not given me the wrong information, the university avenue location rep's had knowledge of there own duties/visas and if people had up to do self-help/self-check out options through your website.

Things are improving here, but not by much. I still hope to never have to come back. I went recently on a Wednesday and the wait was surprisingly short (15 min), so maybe midweek is the best time to go.

I only called them to ask for some information and the phone recording is not clear so I hit 0 to be directed to a person. The guy answered my call and said with a monotone: call this number again and hit 4, but don't hit 0. Then he hung up without saying anything. 😤

I would give less than one star if I had the option to do so. To be fair, the staffs' attitude towards customers has improved compared to 7 years ago, when I first visited the consulate general for a passport renewal. At least, nobody was rude to each other during my recent 2017 passport renewal experience. However, the service quality and efficiency remain so low that could just drive everyone crazy. For example, I was asked to pick up my passport at 2PM. I was on time, but when I got to the place, there was already a huge line-up (more than 50 customers) with only ONE service window open. Yet, there was no "manager" or anyone that we can talk about this unhappy customer experience to. I guess that since it is the government place, so Chinese cannot bring their honest feedback forward with 100% confidence that our feedback would be taken? However, I hope this can change soon, because we all deserve respects and efficient service. Customers' time is just as valuable as staffs'.
