The Axis Club Theatre

The Mod Club sits near Ossington and College, or otherwise get off at Crawford Street! The venue is a mid-sized music hall that can host around 600 people. It is just the right amount of close-up experience for the stage while maintaining a decent depth for the view in the back!nnIt has such a long history that places it among notable Toronto venues like Horseshoe Tavern, Sneaky Dee’s, and Lee’s Palace. We experienced a mixed genre of live music over the years here, ranging from bands like Arkells, Lights, MAN WITH A MISSION, Fluorescents and Meet Me @ The Altar. In terms of recent branding, the space was rebranded back to The Mod Club in May 2025 after previously operating as Axis Club during the period from 2021 to 2025, during which it had multiple technology upgrades.nnThe layout allows audiences to get relatively close to the performers. The bar is located on the west perimeter of the venue, and the bathrooms are downstairs on the west side near the stage. Staff interactions during our visit were nice and efficient, contributing to a smooth experience from entry to departure. Security was friendly and attentive, and even one security guard's job was to light up a flashlight to highlight uneven surfaces and ensure safer movement around the floor to the bathroom. Merch is positioned near the entrance, and bar service tended to be fast and constantly cleaned! While the overall sound quality was solid for most acts, we felt that the opening performer's mix did not meet the same standard, which was a miss.

Came for a concert, I'm physically disabled and use a crutch ans was prepared to be in pain or leave early. While still in line outside they brought me and my partner to an area by the stairs and brought us chairs to sit in. Once inside they brought me to an elevator to a section of the second floor that is for accessible seating but my partner and I had found no mention of so I wanted to let everyone know. 10/10 fantastic staff and great accessibility. John Shambles, new fav solo artist. Smaller venue made it more special for his first solo performance... notable mention Tiny Horses... great ladies bandnnvenue was an absolute gem. I would see another concert there again.

Decent venue, not huge but not too small either. Still had some Jim Beam so that was cool.nThey have someone sitting right by the entrances to the washrooms the whole time trying to sell earplugs, gum, etc. but they had her sat like right in the way of people coming in and out of the washrooms. Much better places to have them sit.nWashrooms weren’t the cleanest but also weren’t horrible.

Absolutely amazing experience! First time visit to see Nick Lowe. It was worth the three hour trip. From the very start purchasing tickets, the GM Brandon helped us out accommodating us in every way possible. The greatest part of the show was actually two of the security staff. Kosi was beyond helpful the entire evening. But the star was absolutely Jen. She checked on us several times throughout the night, made sure we had everything we needed and even walked us out at the end. We actually made a new friend. To the owners of this establishment, you are extremely lucky to have these members on your staff!
