We had been here to just get a quick bite, coffee and tiramisu each and we were three people. Since our order was small the server wanted us to clear the table soon and gave us bills even before we can touch the food, We found this very rude. I hope the management sees this and trains their servers to give equal treatment for all customers.
Decided to come here for my birthday dinner . We decided to start with some pizza because we love wood fire pizza . Pizza came and it was terribly undercooked which we found very odd since it’s wood fire but none the less it wasn’t left in long enough . I had a Caesar salad which was pretty good. We all ordered different gnocchi. I got the carbonara because they make it with Guanciale. The carbonara was very bland and didn’t really taste like carbonara. The weirdest part of this meal was the gnocchi sorrentina they served it in a massive plate of sauce it was like a soup refer to posted picture I’m Italian and I have never seen gnocchi ever served like that. Complete turn off now I get every chef has their creations but there was so much sauce in there that after the gnocchi was done you could have put half a pack of spaghetti in there and it would have been enough for it! The tiramisu was the best part of the dinner which is sad. They served some of us espresso in cappuccino cups which was weird . The service wasn’t that great either for the amount of people in there which wasn’t very many. 8 guys bill was about $800 which was reasonable they included 20% gratuity . I don’t think I’d return here for another meal .
Friendly and prompt service. Pizza was great, the basil pesto was so delicious. The garlic bread did not have that much garlic and was burnt in a few spots. Did not enjoy it as much. Gnocchi was ok, got the sweet potato and butter and sage one, was expecting more of the sweet potato to come through. I wouldn't order it again, I realized I didn't enjoy the butter flavour as much it was too buttery, and there was no sage flavour, it was just a leaf on top of the dish.
Love this place. If you want a homely restaurant that serves amazing Italian food, then bring the family here! I came to this restaurant just by curiosity and I've found a gem of a "little Italy" in Toronto. Thee food is beyond excellent, the service friendly, the prices reasonable, Domenica the server added a personal touch to the place. I'll recommend you the Sottobosco gnocchi as a must along with the Polpette as main course to share. If you are more like into sweet and salty flavor you should try the Anthony's pizza, or the Viola è Zafferano gnocchi if you are more into hot/spicy food. Loved this place. 10 starts out of 5, if possible. Vegetarian options: The menu specified which items are vegetarian based, as well as, which are too hot/spicy.
I have always been told to never have regrets in life, but on June 17 2022 at 8:35pm i regret eating at this "Italian" restaurant. We tried eating next door, but they were too busy so we were stuck eating at Tav's. Service was abysmal. We started off by ordering 2 pizzas to the table, sounds pretty simple. After waiting 50 minutes we were told they forgot our order. Once both pizza's finally arrived, they were doughy and undercooked. Now for the mains, we all ordered the carbonara pasta. Instead of a creamy sauce, it was all overcooked and full of scrambled eggs. Wasn't sure if I was being punked, because if i wanted scrambled eggs, I had a Sunset Grill down the street with better service and portions.
One of my fave dinner spots! I've come quite a few times and have loved every dish I've tried. Some of my faves there are: Rucola salad, sorrentina gnocci, negroni sbagliato drink, and all their pizzas & my bf loves the arrosticini! The service is always great, everyone is very kind and offers helpful recommendations along with being super attentive. We've met Chris a few times and he's awesome! I definitely would recommend Tavs for anyone looking for a delish Italian dinner spot.
Great little place. The wait staff were very friendly and cheery to talk to. The pizza we ordered was great: the dough was fantastically chewy and the nduja was bold and flavourful.
My experience at Tav’s was amazing! My friend and I ordered the gnocchi special, the squid ink gnocchi and the Dominicano pizza. All of it was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent as well. We sat in the back patio which is well decorated and felt like I was back in Italy. Thank you for a great experience!
We had a great experience in this place, all the food, especially the wood oven pizza was absolutely delicious. Good staff as well. Will return soon!
Visited Tavs for the 2nd time last week and honestly have to say this is probably one of the most underrated restaurants in Toronto. Your typical hole in the wall joint with no more then 10 tables, open view of the restaurant from the front which consists of a pizza oven, a few fryers and the pasta station. I ordered the sweet summer , sweet potato Gnocchi in a butter sage sauce refer to picture 1 I did eat a few before taking the picture which was very tasty. I also ordered a pizza with speck, scarmoza cheese and mushrooms picture 2 The dough was airy and light exactly what you’d expect from a pizza in Naples. Our server Matteo I believe his name was also very good. Upon leaving, we noticed a little older Nonna and happened to ask her if it was her place. Turns out it’s her sons, and she gave us her life story. Very pleasant lady reminded me of my own Nonna’s. Will certainly be back to one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto 5/5.
