At approximately $950/month, the stay was not bad. Fire alarms went off quite often as expected at a student residence, but great cleaning staff kept common areas very clean. Rooms can get quite warm on the south side of the building even in the winter if you do not pay extra for a climate-controlled room though. Overall probably worth staying over paying extra for a campus dorm.
You can live construction center! When I ask them to change my room she said you have to charge us to change your room! She is very very moody! When I moved to this room, they said we give you best room!!!! I can’t stay in my room after 6AM because there is a lot of noise…
I lived at Tartu my 2nd and 4th year of uni 3rd at home because of covid. The staff here are wonderful and kind. I had a great experience. I loved the beautiful views, location, neighborhood, etc. I think the value of this place far exceeds the affordable price!
Didn't stay there as a student. I stayed there for a few nights with my choir. Liked having my own room. The kitchen was nice, but ours only had a kettle, no plates or anything. But some friends' kitchens had plates. Depends in the room you get. I really liked it.
Admin receptionist NOT the young people working at lobby desk; they're all lovely is possibly the rudest person I've ever met. She was incredibly antagonistic and patronizing when I literally just asked which email to send my timetable to. It was my fault for not sending it before moving in, but this in no way warrants the insanely rude response I was met with. Also, the laundry machines are literally a joke..like my roommates and I literally joke about whether or not they're going to be functional...spoiler alert- they RARELY are. Most days only 2 out of 6 yes, that's right, only 6 machines for a building of over 500 residents are working. Instead of buying a new set of machines, they shoddily repair them only for them to break again the next day. My friends and I have all had to rewash/redry our clothing as the machines are prone to breaking down mid-cycle. As students on a budget, this is costing us a lot. It's honestly despicable that the admin hasn't done anything to fix this massive issue yet. Also the cockroach problem is...bad. Needless to say, will not be living here again next year. It's rly overpriced for what it is. If they fixed the machines and the pest problem I'd consider coming back, but unless that change happens...nah
Very rude staff in the front office. I was trying to give a notice for my move out date I had sent an email about a week prior but didn't get any response so I wanted a confirmation but I was asked to apologize for leaving although what I did was perfectly acceptable according to the contract. Water and wifi are frequently cut off especially water!, washing machines are always a problem but all they do is turn them off then on again. Spiders and cockroaches in the kitchen area and the bathroom. They also don't clean cupboards and drawers before the move-in date. My suitemates and I had to take away all the trash leftover from the previous year. 0/10 experience, would not recommend. Possibly the worst year spent in Toronto so far. Not even worth the price.
Even tho we pay same amount of money, the room conditions depend on your luck. If you are unfortunate, there is a construction site right after your room and the noise will wake you up at 7am whenever you sleep. Also the size of the kitchen is different even tho you pay same amount of money. This is so unfair. Tartu residence should take some actions like lowering the price of some of the rooms with small kitchen and annoying noise. THERE WAS NO NOTICE about the CONSTRUCTION in advance.
I had one of the 'cheap' rooms 960 CA$ and really enjoyed my time! + Great location + Can get an amazing view room high in building on south side + Clean, friendly cleaning people + Friendly staff + Relatively cheap - Can get very warm in the rooms, even in winter because there is one central heating system that you can not turn off not even per hallway. - No couch in common area or individual rooms.
Great location, renovated rooms are nice but on the smaller side. Furniture seems sturdy and modern looking. AC was dripping water when first turned on but then stopped. Seems clean and we'll maintained. Only minuses are the smell from the garbage chute in the hallway and poor WiFi connection in the suites. Decent value for the money.
I lived there many years ago, 2002 to 2003 and it was great and super cheap then. $400. From reading the comments things have clearly gone down hill.
