Taqueria El Chefe

I was in Calgary for a work trip and was staying in the area. I wanted tacos for dinner and after a quick google search I found Taqueria El Chefe. Reviews looked good so I decided to check them out. And they did not disappoint! Small spot with an authentic Mexican feeling. I had the birria pizza and it was amazing. Their in house hot sauce blew me away as well. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Chef even came out and asked how my meal was. When I complimented him on the sauce, he told me how they made it. I asked if they sold some, which they do not unfortunately. But he did go back and bring me out a small cup I could take home. Just remember, this is not fast food. It will take time for them to bring out your food. It is made fresh to order. But so worth the wait. Next time I am back in town I will be going back to try more of what they have to offer.

The BEST ever. Even better than in Mexico. Had the chicken tacos and they had so much flavour and just the right amount of heat.

My 2 brothers and I were excited to try this place and came from out of town to do so.nnWe were shook by the amazing ,authentic Mexican flavors. The warm, welcoming and friendly owners were a joy to be around and they're great with food and flavor.nnThis place deserves 5 stars all day, every day.nnYou must try the Birria Tacos and Noodles along with every other menu item including the spicy candy nnThis place is perfection and made us 3 very happy and filled us up!nnWe will keep coming back as much as we can.nnnn

Best tacos in the city. Service is great too, bit of a wait but for food this good it’s worth it.nI also was there to witness some conflict between the front of house and an uber eats driver, and one of the guys came out from the back and handled the situation really well sticking up for his coworker. I was very impressed by this place and I’ll be going back a lot.

This is an awesome little Mom and Pop shop... one of those hole in the wall places where the food is just amazing. The service is super friendly, the place is small with just a few tables but it's very clean, and the food is out of this world. The elotes are amazing and their birria tacos are to die for. Best tacos in the city without a doubt. I will be back here countless times. Do yourself a huge favor and eat here!!! NOW!!!
