I tried a savoury and a sweet tamal from the Tamaly Shop stand at the UBC Farm Market. The person working was so nice and offered me a sample of one of their drinks. I chose the Horchata, which was very good on the thicker side, but skipped on buying a full bottle because I'd gotten a drink from another vendor. My tamales were the Mole with Tofu and the Blackberry Cream Cheese. Their vegetarian options for the savoury tamales all sounded good to me so it was hard to choose, but I had to go for something with mole. This one came with lots of toppings beans, extra mole sauce, and guacamole with tortilla chips. I really liked the texture of the tamal and the mole was good. This wasn't seasoned as heavily as most Mexican food I've enjoyed, but I didn't really notice at the time and it didn't bother me because I thought the ingredients as they were provided sufficient flavour. The Blackberry Cream Cheese Tamal was my first dessert tamal and it was very interesting! The warm chunks of cream cheese reminded me of white chocolate which was very delicious and indulgent, but the blackberry masa dough wasn't very sweet at all so it was well-balanced. Definitely give it a try if you're curious. In addition to ready-to-eat food, their stand also sells vacuum-packed tamales to take home.
Love it, I travelled far to try the mole tofu tamaly from here and it was totally worth it nice to see so many cool drink options too. Hope to get some more soon
Everything we tried was incredible, from the mole to the selection of beverages. When everything tastes so good it can be hard to choose! Love the options on their website and looking forward to placing our order!
I bought a few tamales last weekend. Makes me feel in Mexico. I highly recommend them. Many amazing flavors. My favorite black berry with cream cheese love it!
Got ripped off by this company. Was charged doubled in error and despite acknowledging that I was overcharged the company won't refund my money. Got charged $58 for 6 tamales.
