Taiyo Japanese

This use to be my go-to place for sushi until my order today. Yam had barely any tempura batter and was hard. Fitness role had avocado that was black. There was no one in the reasturant so I'm not sure why the quality was so lacking.

Been here a few times, has always been a very nice, small place with fast service, good food always fresh, avocado is fantastic too! and made my 20th birthday amazing. I love the fact that they have booths, chairs, and even the little alcove seating. Makes the whole place feel so special and nice. 10/10 and 100% going back

Visited here on a Sunday. Not busy which was good. We were greeted really well as the server was super nice. Upon ordering, we decided to try salmon sushi. Shrimp sushi. House roll. California roll and rainbow roll. Dynamite roll was also ordered which was my personal favourite as the shrimp tempura adds a great crunch flavour to the overall sushi taste. We also got Vegetable udon. I have to say the udon was one of the best I have had in calgary. Simply delicious. Hot and plenty flavour in a decent sized bowl of serving. One knock was that we found some rotten avocados in the rainbow roll sushi which wasn’t ideal but either way we would suggest this place and would definitely be coming back for more.

This place was very good and this is no joke. We enjoyed our meals presentation was beautiful sushi tasted fresh. I would recommend this stop to any foodie or just some one who loves food and is open to new flavours. Sorry for the light on the pics.

First time ordering for here and I'm surprisingly satisfied..usually skeptical when trying new sushi places but Taiyo was pretty good. I go for nigiri when having sushi, rarely get rolls unless the rolls are their specialities Like big catch. Their sushi was fresh and tasty. Rice and fish is perfectly proportioned. I hate it when some sushi place give you a huge chunk of rice and thin slice of fish. I will order from here again

Located in the creekside shopping area by dominos. The sushi was very good, lots of unique and tasty rolls. The udon was however not the best, it felt like the udon from the frozen section of t and t. The udon broth was very salty and overpowered the meal. I highly recommend the sushi and unless your craving udon, don't bother.

I haven't been back here for quite sometime but the service is still amazing and food quality, presentation and taste great!

Fantastic value for money set lunch. I ordered set A teriyaki beef and the portion of beef was generous and tender. Salad was a huge serving as compared to other Japanese establishments. My 11 month old baby left some crumbs on the floor and I wanted to pick it up but the female waitress said I didn't have to as she was going to sweep the place anyway. Friendly staff, good food - I went back for their set lunch 2 days in a row!

Really really wanted to like Taiyo more! I ordered ramen and sushi. The ramen broth was not as flavourful as I was hoping for, quite bland. The sushi was good but fell apart easily. Portion sizes are worth the money though, and friendly customer service!

Fish was poorly trimmed with skin and sinew left attached on 4 of the 6 pieces. The don bowl rice was plain, with no seasoning. The broccoli in the vegetable tempura was half rotten. The tempura was made with fresh oil but everything else was lackluster and questionable. Not ordering from them again when there are better places within the same proximity. They didn't use any Mishima on top of, or vinegar in the rice. The fish was hard to taste because they put it on top of lemon slices so who knows if it's fresh. Hopefully the vegetables don't give us an upset stomach because they were old and rotten. See the attached photo of the rotten inside the broccoli. They should have thrown it out but decided to feed it to us instead.
