Seeing more modern Korean eateries popping up in our neighborhood is excellent news, and TABOM quickly became one of our favorites. The staff is amiable and helpful and will walk you through all steps if it's your first experience with such cuisine. The array of flavors dishes offer is spectacular. I honestly think they should start selling their hot plate meats marinated to go so you can grill it yourself at home as well. If you are after memorable flavors, you need to visit this place. We are now waiting for the weather to cool down so we can try their hot pot, as it looked terrific when other patrons ordered it.
Great food, friendly waitress, clean dining environment, and pretty good price! The porportion is generous and the food is well seasoned. Comparable food quality in Richmond or Vancouver would be 20-30% higher in price. The only down side was that there was only one waitress working on the floor, and she managed to serve like 7-9 tables at the time when we were there. Meaning, yes, it's slow in service, but we understand she is already trying her best.
This local Korean restaurant is good. They serve this Stir-fry spicy Korean chicken platter on your table for $17 per person with min of 2 people. You sit around the table and wait approx 10min for the food to cook, then you eat, half way through they bring rice and the meal transforms to chicken fried rice. The dishes had came with spicy chicken in the middle corn on the outside along with cheese and egg, very cool to watch it all cook and come together. As you eat it you make mix with the pickled bean sprouts and kimchi. Which make for a pleasant meal.
Great experience! We order Hot Plate #6 which is stir-fried spicy small octopus with spicy pork. Min order of 2 or more, it comes with egg & corn, we order ramen. Tips for your first time, you cab choose less spicy to extra spicy °L°
Hidden gem this is. It took us awhile to find nearby parking but we eventually found a parking behind the TD bank. We were fortunate as we got a table right before getting super busy. Waiter was attentive and professional. We first thought the portion size was small but after finishing the mean with fried rice, it was perfect. Dak galbi dish was really good with cheese side. It can be little spicy however for some folks. Recommending the menu and place.
The place is clean and they have good food for decent prices. You can customize how spicy you want the food if you can't eat very spicy food as the regular is a bit on the spicy side. Also the employees are super super friendly and professional. I have not yet seen other Korean restaurants that have this great of a service! Thank you!
Quick and friendly service. The beef bulgogi was really good. It didn’t come with rice or noodles so you’d have to order on the side to feel full. Overall a decent Korean place to hang out with friends.
Great food. OK service Got two portions of the pork bulgogi hot plate and an order of the classic fried chicken, fries, etc with the 6 sauces. More than enough food for 4 of us and was probably one of the best bulgogi’s I’ve had. One star off for the so-so service. You aren’t checked on that often and we had to make requests for things twice before they helped us. Still - the food is very good and a good value so we would come back.
The experience here was ok. The host/server can be more friendly but they did their best. They made us stand outside in the rain even though most of the party was there and it wasn’t that busy. The food was good but my friend ordered the chicken wings and the fried chicken in plain flavour so if wasn’t anything special. She also ordered the kalbi ribs but we got the soup instead which was still flavourful. Japchae and seafood pancake you can get most places. I think overall there was better Korean places close by.
While the food here was good, the service and misleading menu were really disappointing. We viewed the menu before arriving and were excited to have some beers with dinner, but when we tried to order some Asahi, we were told the only beer they had was bottled Corona. Disappointing, but we ordered it anyway. Despite the unique style of food and serving format, the server never asked if we had visited before I later learned they do this at the downtown location so they can provide suggestions and guidance. We made our selection and when it was brought out, the server placed it on the grill, ignited the flame, and left. We didn’t know if we had to wait for anything to cook, if there was any suggestions for how to eat, etc. He also didn’t explain what any of the side dishes were. Service was slow so when the server finally came back ten minutes later he realized the burner wasn’t working and our food hadn’t stayed warm, the egg hadn’t cooked, and the cheese hadn’t melted. We eventually got it working and the food was great, but the lack of service left a bad taste in our mouth. Given that this place is so different from what you’d encounter in a western-style restaurant, they should definitely be more attentive and helpful. They should also update their drinks menu if they will no longer carry the advertised beverages! Definitely go for the food, but don’t expect much beyond that.
