Symposium Cafe Restaurant & Lounge

Service was terrible, I'm reluctant to even give 1 star. We were a group of 9 people waited in line to be seated while being continuously ignored by the servers walking right by us. Waited for 20 minutes to be seated. We were told that they had to "ask the kitchen if it was okay to sit a group this large." They finally sat us and threw down the menus as if a group of 9 people was a problem and not welcomed business. We waited close to half an hour at our table with our menus without acknowledgement. Not a single server even dropped by to give us water for the table. We ended up going down the street to Angie's who sat us the moment we walked in and had immaculate service and were very polite and met our every need. Go to Angie's. Not Symposium.

The service was slow and the wait was long to get in, not because of the people but no waiter served us. The food tasted ok but was a bit cool. Nice surroundings and the ambience is nice. First time here so could be a one off. Menu a bit more expensive than a Williams. Parking is not close by a reasonable walk.

Apps are decent. Desserts are incredible. Entrees are not bad but not amazing. I've had at least two occasions of ordering hot drinks that weren't quite hot. Friendly service.

As a senior I don't eat out much anymore but this place did not impress. Our chicken fingers were hard, the extra 2 oz of blue cheese dressing at $3. was bland (no hint of cheese), the coleslaw $4.25 was kind of watery and the tiny glass of mango juice was $4.75. I only learned of the prices during bill presentation. The location was good, as was the interior and the washrooms were very clean. However I feel it was over priced for what I received.

Wonderful experience when we went here. We ordered the mussels in garlic hot sauce and they were superb. Our waitress was genuinely friendly and really helpful. Would go again!
