My husband and I went to Sunset on Seneca for a 2-night trip and absolutely loved our experience. We called ahead of time to ask Frank and Donna if it would be alright to arrive very, very late because of a late flight and without hesitation they said "absolutely". We woke up the next day to the friendly faces of our hosts at breakfast and a delicious, fresh meal of bacon, sausage, biscuits, coffee, muesli, a variety of jams and cooked to order omelets. It was delicious! Donna knows how to cook a mean breakfast :). Frank chatted with us each morning at breakfast, regaling us with stories. The view at the breakfast table and from our room (the white room) was absolutely blissful, it would be beautiful in any season. Also, for cat lovers, they have one very friendly cat that's a nice reminder of home! We would absolutely recommend Sunset on Seneca to anyone considering a trip to Watkins Glen and hope to come back ourselves! Thanks again, Donna and Frank, for a great stay.

My wife and I stayed at this Bed & Breakfast while doing some site seeing in the finger lake region. It was located right on Seneca lake. It was in a great location, only a 2 minute drive to the falls in Watkins Glenn and at the beginning of wine country. The atmosphere was not only cozy, but friendly and welcoming almost like walking into family awaiting your arrival. Our bedroom had a wonderful view of the Seneca Lake. After a long day touring we spent the evening in their hot tub over looking the beautiful Lake. Our bed was amazingly comfortable which is not what you expect when your so use to your own. The sheets were so soft and comfortable. I awoke to a wonderful smell of sausage, bacon, and coffee. Breakfast was set up just like Mom and Dad had when growing up. The menu options were wonderful to chose from. After breakfast and welcoming morning conversation I felt like I knew the owners' of the inn for years. I would highly recommend this place to stay!

In January we decided that we would take a trip to Watkins Glen and booked 2 nights at Sunset on Seneca B&B for our stay in July. Fast forward to June and we were told by our babysitter that they would no longer be available to watch our 3 young kids and we saw our relaxing weekend slipping away. However we were able to scramble and find replacement sitters except for Friday during the day and ended up leaving Cleveland around 7pm. We didn’t want to arrive at the B&B at 2am and disrupt everyone so we called and spoke with both Donna and Frank who were agreeable to us canceling our Friday night reservation. We ended up driving out late Friday night and stayed over in Hornell about an hour outside of Watkins Glen and drove in on Saturday morning. We had plans for the day and at 9:30am we arrived at the B&B and wanted to know if it would be ok if we parked there until we checked in later that day. Donna was agreeable to that and had said it would work better if we just checked in then (at 9:30 instead of later because they were going to be away from the inn) and after going over a few formalities we were off for the day. When we returned for the day we were able to settle in, the view from our room was beautiful and the attention to details can’t be denied, however the rest of the B&B was just mediocre. We found that our bathroom and the overall décor were dated. In the morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast and prepared to leave. However before we left owner Donna felt that she had to voice her anger at us for having canceled our reservation for Friday night and didn’t appreciate our early arrival or the fact that we “looked well rested” and while her husband Frank had been able to “overlook and forgive” she could not just over look it. She informed us that she would have been happier if we would have just canceled our reservation completely. This encounter would be understandable had we not called 3 weeks in advance and spoke with the innkeepers, but we did. The whole encounter left a very bitter taste in our mouth, but certainly explained why we felt unwelcomed during our stay. WHEN we DO return to the area we will not return to this B&B and cannot recommend that anyone else stay here either. Ultimately the view and attention to detail cannot and does not outweigh the negative attitude and personality of the owner. Want to stay at a TRUE 5 STAR B&B, look up Juniper Hill in close by in Trumansburg.
