Sunset Grill is Ajax's favourite destination for fresh breakfast and lunch.

Story

In 1985 our founder, Angelo Christou, opened Sunset Grill's doors for the first time in the Beaches area of Toronto, Ontario. Armed with the basic info that Fresh is Tastiest™, Sunset Grill quickly developed long lineups of loyal customers. With huge popularity and consistent service, it quickly became the place to be for the best breakfast in town.
It is said that when something works, don’t change it. After more than 30 years in business, we realize that while the world around us has evolved, our concept and methods have not changed. After all, good food, fast service and a pleasant experience is what a successful restaurant is all about.
Our food and preparation methods are 5 star inspired and quality is never sacrificed. All our menu items are cooked fresh to order using healthy methods: flat top grills, pat dry bacon and nothing is ever deep fried. With choices such as our famous bacon and 3 eggs for breakfast or our flagship Sunset Burgers for lunch, we invite you try our restaurants for an experience you can count on!

Typical of all Sunset grills, relatively cheap food served in a bland Swedish sauna style venue. The staff here are great, the food is consistent but... ..there is a seriously weird guy who is dressed as a kitchen hand but does nothing other than watch customers and staff. He pops up in places around the restaurant, stands there for five minutes staring at customers and staff and is then gone until he appears again a minute later. It is simply creep and really off putting. Myself and my wife have joked that we will keep going to see how much more creepy and weird he can get. We may invent a game based on where he appears in the restaurant and do ample syrup shots or something. We are guessing he’s the owner or related to the owner as he does no work whatsoever except making his customers and I’m guessing poor staff, super uncomfortable. We’ll be back for sure but we’re not confident how long he will remain the comedy value he is now and worth the return visits. If you are the manager, go home if you’re helping or making people comfortable and certainly don’t dress as a kitchen hand because it makes you look even worse.

It's more of a 4.5 star. This place is good. Staff are pleasant and attentive. Prices are within the average range for breakfast. My only criticism is the homefries need to be done differently, they are starchy and have that not quite cooked feel to them.

We were regulars here but quality has definitely gone down. Staff are pleasant and do their best. Ownership recently changed and with that the food too. One can ask for things to be done in a specific way but cooks ignore the servers. For example the home fries are not fries but just boiled potatoes. They used to be properly cooked but now mostly uncooked. Same for bagels being warmed, not toasted when one asks for toasted. It all happened after ownership changed. Sad. Was such a wonderful place before.

This used to be our favourite place to go for breakfast but the last few times we were there we have felt very uncomfortable with what I believe is the owner or manager, he just stands against the wall and stares at everyone while they are trying to eat. He also looks very unprofessional in the way he presents himself. We also witnessed the chef picking food straight from the grill with his hands and placing it in his mouth and absolutely no hand washing. This saddens us as we love the serving staff here, they have always been excellent but unfortunately that is just not enough to make us want to come back.

Amazing service, they are always quick to serve you. All the staff are extremely friendly. Can get occasionally busy, so make sure you arrive early on weekends.
