Suffah Academy

About

Suffah Academy is a school established to provide students with a safe and inclusive learning environment which fosters excellence in education, character and leadership development while building a strong foundation of Islamic beliefs.

Story

We intend a Suffah education:
To guide students toward mastery in a wide variety of scholastic, artistic, and athletic endeavours. We want students to see and use relationships among disciplines; to develop intellectual integrity and curiosity, insight and imagination; to develop technological literacy, environmental stewardship, and global awareness; and to become independent and reflective thinkers who can express themselves fluently and who take delight in learning.
To spark passion. We want young people to become wholeheartedly immersed in their work so that they are deeply and personally engaged and accountable. We believe that human intelligence and imagination extend to, and are developed through, all areas of human experience and that to involve a student passionately is to involve the whole person; therefore, we value a rich variety of forms of creation and modes of expression.
To cultivate depth of character. We want students to develop empathy, imagination, and moral courage; a sense of responsibility informed by ethical values; a sense of humility; a habit of service; and a commitment to social justice. We intend for their intellectual and moral development to be intertwined, so that their choices are guided by internal controls and sensitivity to the needs of others.
To foster a sense of community. We seek to create a vibrant public life in the school, where students learn to express their opinions effectively and responsibly, and to consider respectfully the opinions of others. We believe that an environment most conducive to learning and growth balances informality with rigorous expectations and seriousness of purpose with a sense of play. We strive for our school community to be a diverse and inclusive one that fosters understanding and appreciation of our differences and commonalities.
Finally, we recognize that Suffah can achieve its aims only when students’ experiences are predominantly positive and joyful, and when their relationships with teachers are affectionate and trusting.

I put my child in Suffah Academy when it moved to Milton, assuming that even though it was a new school, it would be a good option since it had been running in Mississauga for several years. I knew that generally Islamic schools have lesser resources and qualifications than Public Schools and I adjusted my expectations accordingly. However, the standards were extremely disappointing. My child was constantly complaining that the teachers are mean and yell a lot. I watched my child's self confidence crumble in an environment that was clearly not positive or encouraging nor representing Islamic etiquettes of basic kindness. I approached both the VP and Principal a couple of times. The VP was receptive and would listen to my concerns, but unfortunately the principal had no interest in meeting me, and was very dismissive and defensive stating the teachers were 'excellent' despite mine and other parents concerns of inappropriate dealings with the children. I truly wished well for this school beginning in Milton as Milton is in need of more Islamic schools, but based on my experience and experiences of other families unfortunately I would not be able to recommend people to enrol. Really hope and pray much needed improvements are made for the wellbeing of the children!
One of the best schools. The teachers and administrators will treat your kids as their own. We will always be grateful to everyone here. We have moved out of country but my kids still miss this school. Keeping everyone in duas.
The worst place to have a mosque. This plaza has a limited parking facility and the management doe not even let people park at the far end of the plaza where no one is parking and there is no business. Not only that, they can't provide a solution on the parking issue. Won't recommend the place. Top of it, they have the worst time management. Never ever I have seen the prayer starts on time.
Very good school mashaAllah! My experience over the past 5 years as a parent has been positive. Each year has brought around more improvements. Math and Science fairs, different programs and extra-curricular activities with a good focus on STEM - crucial for kids nowadays. The staff are professional and caring, and a good family-like community has been created to encourage kids and parents in a fun, collaborative environment.
Masha Allah school provides a safe, loving and secure Islamic environment. Our son absolutely love attending this school and developed a great bond with his teacher which helped him developed good habits, manners and inclination towards religion. Their Hifz program is the gem in their crown.
This institute strives to inspire and educate children through reduced class sizes and hard-working staff. Both Islamic and secular studies are taught by qualified teachers that are always positive and outgoing. This positive atmosphere in turn creates a strong community and an excellent environment for children to learn and play.
Excellent school. My daughter is going to this school since day one it opens in 2012. It grows from 3 classes to 8 grade, indoor gym, outdoor play area, library, science lab etc.. Very hard working teachers. My 5 year old was reading grade 2 books when he was in SK at a bookstore tells the story of quality teaching. Keep up the good work.
Suffah academy is one of the best Islamic schools. I have visited many times and really enjoyed it. Teachers and staff are also really nice.
My kids going to Suffah for many years and i have seen them grow and improve rapidly. They have a stem curriculum, science lab, studio, gym, elective subjects like home economics and wellness along with a Quran class that's perfectly tailored to kids capacity and potential. What i loved this year is their leadership program for children. I see a bright future and hope they provide services for higher grades as well.
Principal was very polite and respectful. They have a dedicated staff which allows children grow and learn about today's world while keeping Islamic values in mind. School is decorated with important life lessons. Teachers address with the upmost professionalism and care.
