Was asked to pay for parking. Didn't argue, left and never returned. I happily contribute out of my own will to multiple other mosques of my choosing, but certainly not intending on returning or supporting a mosque that equates my right to worship to a forced fee. Islam is built on no compulsion. It's not that complicated. Personally, I found it appalling and genuinely the first time in all my life did I witness something of this sort : It is absolutely not about the amount or the communities desire to support - it is about the Way and How that support is being rallied. Mosques have expenses like all establishments, but the way Mosques run, are not like other establishments. Surprised that the leadership has to be explained that : Hate to say it, but I'm not surprised that this lavish mosque is taking forever to get built. Donnu how many people have turned away in surprise and anger and how many people they have further told. Good luck to you guys and may Allah guide and humble you. If you had welcomed the communities intelligence based on the feedback you're getting, I am certain you would have had a world of volunteers and support and perhaps a ready mosque by now! Unfortunately your poor attitude in the comments is also keeping you from progressing. May Allah guide you, and us all. The world remains my masjid, while I await you to respond in disagreement :
I've been to mosques all over the world over the last 2 decades, in multiple European, African and Asian countries. In 2020 I went to this overly ambitious venue for Friday prayers but was asked to pay to park...I was so shocked and disappointed I quickly turned around and never went back. Instead I just drive to Al Falah like most local Muslims. Never in my life have I experienced this. Mosques struggle to get locals and especially young people to go. How does this help by charging for parking? Fewer people will go and also be put off. Not a wise approach to trying to fund an overly ambitious mosque design. It's looked raw and unconstructed for a number of years. They should have made a more realistic mosque design that didn't need so much funding especially if it won't even be 1/5 full for daily prayers. I have seen similar overly ambitious projects in the UK...and they take a decade or so before they are built...then they deal with inflated maintenance costs they struggle to cover. Should have started small or just made a simpler mosque that blended into the local architecture. You need more local Canadian or western born ppl involved with mosque design and management. Our elders' south Asian masjid mentality doesn't cease to disappoint...seen it so many times. All about pride, power trips, front row hogging and 65+ piety. Top Uni grads and Muslim professionals then stay far away. Great job
The mosque's responses to people's comments are rude, dismissive, arrogant, and uninspiring. The opposite of what we expect from the heirs to the prophet saw. They have basically reinforced many people to NOT donate or go to this supposed place of worship. So very very disappointing to have someone with such bad manners and no wisdom or shaqsiain how they respond. It almost feels like the mosque account has been hijacked by an islamaphobe. For the sake of the regular worshippers and people who have donated into this money pit of a grand grand overly ambitious mosque, change the person that is responding to people's comments here. You can't continue this way with all the degraded responses filled with animosity and rudeness. An utter joker.
I was shocked when I learned that the masjid is charging for parking on Fridays. So I came here to read for myself and I am now even more shock when I read the reply from the masjid. Whoever it is that is replying must learn to be tactful and non-confrontational. You are arguing that if people are paying for a beautician then they should pay for the Imaam to lead them in prayer; you also said if you can afford to drive then you should be able to pay for parking. First, you are comparing a beauty parlour with a masjid; Let's see. A beauty parlour is a business. A masjid is a place of worship, not a business, and attending it is based on an act of faith. You cannot pay for an act of faith; you may, if one wishes, contribute to the upkeep. Forcing people to pay is contrary to the idea that attending the masjid is good for everyone, for the soul, the community. As for the beauty parlour, until you get someone to give you a pedicure for free, you have an option, get one or don't get one. You are turning the masjid into a business, pay if you want to pray or don't pay and don't pray. On this note, I would also like to add that there is at least one Imaam in Mississauga that I know who is charging an astronomical sum to perform the Nikah. And he wants cash. A business man who doubles up as an Imaam. Let's not turn a masjid into a business. Attract people, don't give them a reason not to come. As for the person replying, please read up on the art of rhetoric. It will help you now and later in life.
I visited Masjid on first Friday of 2023 NO ONE ASK ME FOR PARKING MONEY Big plan for community But need more support from community specially from Mississauga,Oakville & GTA Very very hard working management But need to think little outside of box
Wow very disappointing. Never have I heard of a masjid forcing people to pay to get in or to pray. And your responses to the people leaving reviews are downright rude, disgusting and embarrassing and unbecoming of a Muslim or any person who is running a masjid or a community center. A masjid is supposed first and foremost the house of Allah. It is supposed to be a safe place, a welcoming place for EVERYONE, to worship Allah, to pray, to get closer to Him and get together as a community to benefit one another and enrich the community and bring us together As Muslims. I have never in my life heard of a masjid forcing people to pay in order to pray. Did it ever occur to you or whoever is running this masjid that there are actually people who are struggling everyday with their finances, living paycheque to paycheque who barely have a few dollars in their bank accounts? Do people need to disclose their financial situation to you? Do people need to have it stamped on their foreheads? Are you going to turn someone away from coming to pray, to the house of Allah if they don't have any money to pay you? If so, shame on you, inshAllah you will answer to Allah. And if so, don't call this place a masjid. Call it a business or whatever you want. I see signs everytime I drive by you are fundraising for a big, grand masjid when based on your comments you can't maintain the masjid you have now? What is the purpose of having an expensive, grand building when you are clearly expressing you cant maintain what you have now. Masjids do not force people to pay. They do not stop people from praying if they do not get money or whatever fundraising money they want. People donate and contribute to keep the masjid running with donations in their own discretion and within their own limits. And guess what? Masjids are thriving and flourishing with lots of people, growing in size and in the services they offer because the people who can, DO donate and contribute WHEN they can and give WHAT they can.
It’s okey if we spent 5 or 10$ per week especially on Friday , and that’s the minimum the office of the masjid can do to encourage people to donate and to benefit from it Alajr, other way satan and nafs always whispering in your ear “not now “ not now “ wait wait people looking at you better to hide the sadaka and week after week you became lazy to put your hand in your pocket and you miss all days left . So Think of that but don’t think so much just let it go
Inshallah new Masjid get completed before end of times ! Too so loooong
An active lovely Sunni Mosque - Masjjd. Small class for learning Quran after Asr prayer. Wishing them best if luck in building the big one
Sad to see a masjid charge $12 for juma prayers. Used to be $5 for parking. This is absolutely not acceptable, similar “donations” over the years have not really resulted in any progress in terms of construction. When you advertise a ramadan kit as free you can’t charge $25 for “donations”. Please stop charging people so they can come offer prayers. This is ridiculous and unacceptable.even after sending emails asking about this, you have ignored it, so we have to write a review!
