Starwind Supermarket

The place looks like a dump, but it does sell good produce at cheap prices. Has decent cuts of meat & a good selection of foreign goods. However, if you decide to shop here, there are a couple things to keep in mind : you might leave with the unpleasant scent of fish on your clothing & stay away from the rear of the parking lot, as it sometimes on occasion seems to attract some sketchy characters drinking alcohol openly in view.

If you are not concerned with low quality stuff then this a place for grocery shopping. You don't save bucks as the stuff is meant for landfill. Never ever get Meat products from this place, even if they offer you free. Things are recycled and best before dates are manipulated.

Medium sized grocery will fast lineups at cashier. Poor command of English, so don't ask too many questions. Good fruit section. Many Chinese choices. Good parking.

Their food are the most affordable around here, but you have to make sure you check for expiring date of the product you are buying them. Most times, their meat are not fresh ones, if you are doubting that their meat is not fresh that's because it is not.

Starwind is selling spinach that has javex/bleach sprayed on the spinach, I cooked the spinach and still after it had a strong smell of bleach and wouldn't return the spinach after I went back to return it and confront them of what they are doing. This is a horrible supermarket I wouldn't suggest anymore to go shop there for anything. They are using bleach to prolong the life of there vegetables. This is harmful and will create health risk for consumers. Everyone please report this place to Health Canada.

Customer service is ok. A little more expensive compare to sunny or bestco. I find a lot of the frozen vegetables and frozen meet have been there so long they look freezer burned and dried out. Place is clean and organize.

Large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Typical grocery store that carries everything you will need. They also sell shoes at the front of the store for GREAT prices!

BEWARE OF EXPIRED GOODS WHEN YOU GO TO STARWIND. I went to starwind today to do my grocery shopping usual I always checked the expiry dates whenever am shopping up on reaching the section where they have the box grace peanut punch I always buy 5 whenever I shop there. The regular price is $1.59each I noticed today they have it on sale for $67each. I picked 1 up and to see the expire date I noticed its been expired since June.09.2017. I called a guy who worked there and showed it to him because they have quite alot about 6boxes he took it to the cashier then comeback and told me that if I want it i could buy it that's why the price is so cheap they dropped the price because it expired I was so shocked like really come on how can someone say their a business owner selling to the public something that's been expired for the passed 12days. I told them that is so wrong and if I didn't checked the expire date and bought it and drink it and it made me sick I would sure sue them worse am 6months pregnant to cause arm to me and my child. Wicked money hungry people.

To the owners and careless manager of this dump, earlier in the day while shopping with my mother, I came out to my car and saw another patron had hit my bumper while parking. When I went inside the store to report the incident , none of the girls could speak proper English and asked me to talk over the PA system to notify the car's license plate owner. Upon further questioning the clerk said there was no manager or the owner in store to report the incident. In the end after waiting for half an hour I had to leave and take my fight with the car owner outside in the lot. It seems to me this is a filthy store that unfortunately isn't being governed or follows proper regulations and channels for safety of their customers. I know for the future to stay away from this store as anyways their produce and fish products are below par standards and possibly tainted. But this is my message to the owners of this place to be prepared for a lawsuit as what care and respect is being shown to their customers should in the case of an accident or a fall occur on their parking lot and no one from the store is there to take down the report or provide help. I would sincerely urge other customers to please take heed and caution when next shopping at this store.

Starwind is a good place to buy really fresh vegetables without depleting your wallet. Regular visits increase your bank account balance and discourages impulse buys you will never eat.
