Kind of overpriced for what you’re getting, but you’re really only paying for the atmosphere/experience. The Sammy Benny was alright and my boyfriend was not full off of his “brunchwich”. Beans were okay. The fruit was good. If I were to go back, it would definitely be for the dessert waffles! The caramel pecan one was delicious - not overly sweet and the blueberry & ice cream waffle was perfect!
Sammy Benny was good, but was accompanied by store bought potato salad which was a little disappointing. The waffles were bite size but tasty with a hint of vanilla flavour. Service was average and could be improved. I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to dine here however if you’re in the area it’s worth trying.
Just love the brunch here! You really can’t go wrong. The waffle Benny is great and if you’re really hungry you get the Benny on potato waffles. The loaded potato waffle is also really great pictured in my review. Maple beans are so good. You get a huge serving of delicious food and quality is great! Definitely recommend this place!
Prices a bit on the high side. No frills from the serving staff, but nonetheless professional. Debit or cash only. Beer served in frosted glass. Waffles fresh. Fried chicken was tender, though I'd prefer it were marinated for more juicier meat. Get the salmon with capers, surprisingly flavourful.
Tried the Starving Artist for the first time today. Upon entering, I noticed that they had a couple of new items as a must try. From the list, I found the Churro Starving 4 Waffles, which comes with two sides. I chose the salad as the main for both sides and Mocha latte. The waffles tasted how a churro should be, a bit of a cinnamon taste, and salad with the dressing was pretty good. The Mocha Latte was sweet but not to overpowering where it tasted good. Overall, it's a pretty good place for waffles and brunch.
Its a great place to meet up with a friend. The waffles and expresso were good and sold at a decent price point. Service is a bit slow but thats probably because they were understaffed. Again, it's a great place to sit down and talk with a friend. My main issue is the lack of AC. But overall, I would go there again.
Service was bit lacking since we waited a bit before we order. Tried potato waffles, it’s soft and compare to regular waffles has bit less texture. Overall, is good place for brunch.
The service was good given they get extremely busy, and can have trouble tending to all patrons entering. I got the Chicken and Waffles, with fruits. It wasn’t amazing compared to other spots I have tried at this price point, there are definitely better food spots if you’re there for the chicken and waffles. The food here is good, not great.
Is there a heaven in Markham? I discovered my food heaven when I stepped into the Starving Artist for a wonderful meal. It was the first time my life that I was introduced to an egg Benedict and I am a fan.Couple that with a great expresso and a strawberry filled waffle and my weekend was made. Thank you for the great food, smiling service and for being easy on my wallet.
Great decor, love the art display and promotion of artist. Menu was very clutter though not easy to read. Food was simple and delicious. Waffles crispy and soft. Benedict was done perfectly, bacon could have been more crispy. Service was fast and efficient.
