St. Anthony Hospital

Lots of miscommunication and lack of communication from the nursing staff. Some nurses were great, other nurses were anything but. I was told by one nurse I could not take a medication that I was prescribed and had brought with me to the hospital. She said "no bed side medicating". I asked if the hospital could prescribe it to me so I could have it and she says the pharmacy doesn't have it. So when my family left they took the medicine with them since we were told I could not take it. Fast forward to the evening and the nurse who was taking care of me told me that was incredibly strange and that I should be able to take my medicine. She also said they definitely had that medicine in the pharmacy. I had other concerns on my second day in the hospital and I felt like I wasn't being heard. I feel like because I had told them that I have anxiety they didn't take my concerns seriously. Again, a couple of the nurses and CNAs were caring and kind, but the other nurses who weren't caring and kind made my experience so much more stressful than necessary. I called them after being discharged, trying to hold back tears, to complain about how i felt disrespected and that their communication between their staff and to their patients really needs improvement. The reply: "I understand you're frustrated but you don't need to be rude". Excuse me?? I understand you're a nurse-- you and your team should do your freaking jobs properly and I wouldn't be upset when I was calling to complain. If I had a choice of hospital I wouldn't have chosen here , but I had no choice. I'm glad I have no reason to ever go back now though.

The care is yet to be determined as my loved on is still staying at this hospital. I will however point out that last night i was on hold for over 25 min. When someone finally answered she said call back in 5 min, because they are trying to fix the phones & computer(s). I did just that... And then again kept on hold for over an hour! I had no choice but to finally give up. I tried again the next morning only to be on hold for another 10 min. This is a hospital for Gods sake, its important that loved ones be able to speak to those under their care. I was finally able to get through 15 hours after my first attempt. I said something to the operator, i said to her, "Oh good you guys finally have your phones figured out." The operator was quite snooty acting and said some BS about how nothing has been wrong with thier phone lines. So sadly they don't even admit to the problem and then give a simple apology . Sad.

I love St Anthony's Hospital. The staff is very kind and cares a lot for those of us who are in need of their help. I can only list a few of my favorite things here . . Radiology Dept is fantastic! I get a hug whenever I go there. Pharmacy is my favorite place for many of my needs, all in one spot! Mary is my go-to-gal. She always has an answer for me and she's been helping me for 20 years! Here at St Ants and prior at the Gig Harbor Rexall. If you have to stay for a few days, this is the Hospital you want to be at. Clean, modern, caring and 5 star in my book. I have stayed at a number of Hospitals and this one is at the top of my list, an A+. The food here is FAR better than any other hospital cafe I have ever been to and better than many cafes in town. The only issues I have ever had is when checking in for a procedure at the front desk. I have had to wait a bit too long sometimes and that makes me cranky. As they say, good thing come to those that wait!

The worst of all the E.Rs I've been in in a long life, Do Not! Bring anyone who's been physically assaulted there is no one at this location that can even help a female victim 4hrs later police gone still no nurse nothing no info an a bullshir advocate shows up an she can't do any medical procedure or give the times of somebody that can arrive time

St. Anthony is the cleanest hospital I've ever been to. The doctors were the best. My brother had an amputation and a hip replacement after being stabbed in a home invasion and thanks to the Franciscan Medical Group he is alive and well. Most excellent hospital and medical teams.
