Absolutely horrendous experience on Thursday at the Kanata store. Firstly, kudos to the kid who desperately tried to assist us in fitting our kids for ski and snowboard gear. Clearly he was out of his element and had no clue how to outfit these two sports. Still, we tried on boots and chose some things. Unfortunately, he needed some help with options for bindings so he went to the service desk to ask them. Neither of the two employees at the service desk could be bothered to take 5 minutes to come out and help their colleague with a sale and instead gruffly told him, "tell them to book an appointment." I am not going to book an appointment to come back to have someone sell me something. I am happy to book an appointment to pickup the equipment once it's put together but I am not coming back three times because it's inconvenient for the staff to take 5 minutes to help a customer. Although I feel sorry for the guy who tried to help us, we had to leave. Poorly fitted ski gear can cause horrible injuries and we were not confident in Sport Chek actually training their staff to fit the equipment they sell. Instead, we went to Sporting Life who has incredibly knowledgeable staff who knew how to properly fit equipment. I dropped over $2000 there today because I was so appreciative of the incredible staff there, that I ended up buying some extra stuff for this season. If you are a skier or snowboarder please, please, please do yourself a favour and AVOID this store.
In the store today, looking for basketball shoes for our boys - We were fortunate to run into a manager, Ryan, who was extremely knowledgeable on this subject and took the time to help us to find exactly what we needed - at a great price! Very happy with our purchase and with the great service!
I ordered all my soccer stuff to this location and he showed up really fast. Staff was easygoing and helped me out. All my stuff was exactly as advertised.
Picked up a pair of ‍swim shoes for our little fella today. We were surprised to find them on the Clearance rack. $45 down from $69.99. We had multiple associates offer us help and we did receive assistance from two different employess. Great service by both! Store was moderately busy and we were in and out in no time.
Arnold was a massive help doing an exchange from an online order for me which involved a lot of steps at the counter. Super friendly, accurate, quick and helpful service was very appreciated—I will be back!
Previously never had a memorable customer experience at Sportschek. But something must have changed in management recently. Had a pleasant and positive experience with Kris the store manager? and all the employees. Amal, and one other cashier. Will motivate us to come again given the superb service quality. Wish the management reads this and gives a nice recognition to both Amal , Kris and the cashier.
Shopped in this store for a few times in the past. Experience has been ok until today. I was trying to upgrade my hockey gears and saw they have the promotion that additional 15% discount if buying 3 or more junior or youth protective gear or skate or additional 25% discount if buying 5 or more. Also they have the boxing week deal that everything is 20% off. I spent more than one hour to find 5 pieces protective equipment for the additional 25% discount. At the checkout, I asked the cashier if my purchase was eligible for the additional 25% discount. The answer was yes. But when I was about driving away , I double checked my receipt and didn’t see the 25% discount at all. Then I went back to store and try to figure out why. The other cashier checked my receipt and tried to explain to me why I could not get the further discount because it was for regular price items. She also mentioned some items were not eligible for discount, blah blah. I was not convinced. At that point I didn’t want my wife and kids to wait too long in the car so I ended the discussion quickly and left with a doubt in my mind. After driving my wife and kids home, I felt they didn’t give me a satisfying answer and drove back to store. It was only a few minutes driving from my place. The same girl reviewed my request of the additional 25% discount. I showed her their advertisement and emphasized the “additional” 25%. My understanding is that this 25% is on the top of any other discounts. Otherwise there should. be no need to say “additional”. The girl seemed to be convinced and agreed to give me the discount. But the store manager, Chris showed up and stopped her. Chris refused to give me the discount even told me they already gave the best prices and no further discount was allowed. But she didn’t get the point that they didn’t give customer the discount they promised. She even tried to say that was a just wording issue and I shouldn’t read it in that way. But my question is if a retailer can not keep their promise advertisement, then how can they be serious about their business? It is Christmas Eve. don’t want to waste more time on them any more. I just unhappily left the store. BTW, in the same shopping trip, my son tried one skate from the display wall. Size was good and price was fine. When I decided to buy them and asked for the other skate. You know what? I was told by a sales assistant that the other skate got burned in the fire. They could get me that one or give another pair. This is ridiculous. If you don’t have the merchandise, why do you put it on display and waste customer’s time. The only choice left for me is to shake head and leave. I have to say the management of this store seems to be quite messed up based on my experience. One star or less is what they deserve.
After watching RockyV I got inspired to start working out . I decided to head over to the local sport check to get some new gym attire.the staff was friendly but I was unable to find anything that fit me 2xLexcept 1 champion T shirt. feeling like less of a human being ,I began to walk looking at the floor and realized my shoes could use an upgrade there was lots to choose from and I ended up getting some black Nikes . I don't cheap out on shoes because you spend a lot of time on your feet and if you don't invest in quality foot wear you will end up with a world of problems down the road. I'm leaving 5 stars because I would rather be positive but can someone please tell me why I could not find anything to wear at your store2XL??? I came here for fitness attire but instead went home and was fitness pizza in my mouth out of depression:
I purchased a bike - not a cheap one, 650 tx included. The sales person had to ask what are their return policies. I inquired about the assembly - many times, good bikes do not last long because they are not assembled properly. I was told that they double-check everything before being handed to me. Due to this, I could only pick it up 24h later. When I did, I noticed that even the tires were not inflated properly only had 10-15 psi vs 50-75 recommended. Wheels were not trued - had to adjust them myself home.
Nice selection of products Staff very responsive.
