I knew what I wanted from looking at the Sport Chek site on the web but only the Bayshore store had my size. From the Chateau, it only took 10 minutes to arrive at the store. So far so good.nOliver greeted me at the sports shoe area, I explained what I wanted in the way of Pickleball shoes, and he was kind enough to bring me 4 brands in my size.nHe left me to my devices, I tried the pairs on, did a soft shoe dance around the place for comfort, ankle support and fit with each pair and chose wisely.nOliver could see the moths flying out of my tattered billfold, and gave me a very respectable offer, one I could not refuse. I walked out of there a very happy customer.nOliver was kind, considerate, diplomatic, certainly knew his department and came across to me as someone who enjoyed his job, and took great pride in making me, as a customer feel welcome.There should be more sales persons like Oliver. 5 stars to you young lad!
I got some socks and a volleyball and I saw some cool af1s and sneakers on display since I'm a sneakerhead, but I wasn't sure if they were in stock cuz I couldn't find them on the shelves. Overall pretty fine and clean.
Shopped in this store for a few times in the past. Experience has been ok until today. I was trying to upgrade my hockey gears and saw they have the promotion that additional 15% discount if buying 3 or more junior or youth protective gear or skate or additional 25% discount if buying 5 or more. Also they have the boxing week deal that everything is 20% off. I spent more than one hour to find 5 pieces protective equipment for the additional 25% discount.nAt the checkout, I asked the cashier if my purchase was eligible for the additional 25% discount. The answer was yes. But when I was about driving away , I double checked my receipt and didn’t see the 25% discount at all. Then I went back to store and try to figure out why. The other cashier checked my receipt and tried to explain to me why I could not get the further discount because it was for regular price items. She also mentioned some items were not eligible for discount, blah blah. I was not convinced. At that point I didn’t want my wife and kids to wait too long in the car so I ended the discussion quickly and left with a doubt in my mind.nAfter driving my wife and kids home, I felt they didn’t give me a satisfying answer and drove back to store. It was only a few minutes driving from my place. The same girl reviewed my request of the additional 25% discount. I showed her their advertisement and emphasized the “additional” 25%. My understanding is that this 25% is on the top of any other discounts. Otherwise there should. be no need to say “additional”. The girl seemed to be convinced and agreed to give me the discount. But the store manager, Chris showed up and stopped her. Chris refused to give me the discount even told me they already gave the best prices and no further discount was allowed. But she didn’t get the point that they didn’t give customer the discount they promised. She even tried to say that was a just wording issue and I shouldn’t read it in that way. But my question is if a retailer can not keep their promise advertisement, then how can they be serious about their business?nIt is Christmas Eve. don’t want to waste more time on them any more. I just unhappily left the store.nBTW, in the same shopping trip, my son tried one skate from the display wall. Size was good and price was fine. When I decided to buy them and asked for the other skate. You know what? I was told by a sales assistant that the other skate got burned in the fire. They could get me that one or give another pair. This is ridiculous. If you don’t have the merchandise, why do you put it on display and waste customer’s time. The only choice left for me is to shake head and leave.nI have to say the management of this store seems to be quite messed up based on my experience. One star or less is what they deserve.
Jake at service centre went above and beyond to help me with a problem with my skis. I bought my skis not really understanding that they needed specialized bindings, and my junior boot wouldn't work with my adult bindings, so he advocated for me with his employees to get me the best possible solution. He even went beyond the call of duty to fit me in to his fully booked schedule and attach my bindings to my skis on a busy ski weekend. Without his amazing customer support, I probably would have given up and returned my skis due to frustration.
Friendly service from all staff who got involved with our family's needs. We give thanks especially to the young sales lady by the name of Fiona who gave her upmost customer service in finding winter attire for my son. Kudos!
