Not inexpensive but very well done. Worth the money. Tamale was very good. I had the beef. Great service. Will be trying the maize ice cream. Will report back. Back already. Really great flavour ice cream. Not anything like what I thought it would be. Definitely worth a try. It is served super cold and hard so you will need to be patient. Hi. Back yet again. Was given a sample of the hot chocolate. Wonderful and different. Not sweet. Change without the dairy. Bought a full serving quite gladly. Totally recommended!
Just ate there! Soooo delicious, hearty, filling, and my tummy says YUMMY. Service was absolutely outstanding-my 92 year old friend and I were really well taken care of, and all our questions were answered. Try the agua fresca-hibiscus drink. So refreshing. I had two. This is MY kind of Mexican food. REAL food. Both the chicken and beef options were fabulous, tasty, and Nourishing. And of course, the tortillas. Food of the Godz. So glad we decided to try this place. I will be back soon. I live on the Mainland, but this will be on my list when return in December. Thanks, all.
At more than $1.37 per tortilla, I feel this is a rip-off. If you advertise that the tortillas are 6", then that's how big they need to be. I measured every one of the 8 tortillas in the package and the smallest was 5", and the largest 5.5". I have a feeling their smaller 4" tortillas aren't actually 4" either. I will be buying them and measuring as well! Also the nutrition facts table on both the 4" tortillas and the 6" tortillas is the same, with both showing 40 calories per tortilla. I'm not a genius or anything, but I'm pretty sure the macros should be different for the larger tortillas.
Ordered the esquities - wow. Blew my mind , honestly the best snack sizes dish I've had of Mexican cuisine. It's SO different than anything I've had! 10/10 Attole - was given compliment of the chef, he explained the process of producing it. It was ALSO SO DIFFEREENT. I can't explain it it's phenomenal. 10/10 The chef owner is from Mexico City. So this is authentic. You know it's gotta be good for it to be a stand alone mexican restaurant in the middle of China town. You won't regret going . The staff and services was outstanding as well
the staff were SO friendly! you could have a genuine conversation for hours. the restaurant was clean and the lighting was pleasant. the food was quick and tasted so good. I hope to come back soon! thank you :
A small menu is always a good sign, quality over quantity. We were there for the weekend tacos and they were definitely the best we’ve had in Victoria, possibly the best ever. My partner was talking about them all night. Everything was house made & full of love. The owner was extremely nice and shared the process of how they hand make the tortillas. I will be going back to try the tamales this week. 10/10
The owner is a truly enthusiastic chef. He asked if I had been there before? No. Well come in let me show you what we do if you have a few minutes. Chef and a salesman... I spent $80 Do not miss this Mexican place in Chinatown Next to Don Mees
Went here for the Mexican hot chocolate - and it’s amazing!!! Possibly the best I’ve ever had! But next time I’m bringing my own cup as I don’t like drinking hot bevvies out of plastic. Will def go back for the dried peppers & other culinary staples. Nice peeps, too!
I’ve been here previously and really enjoyed the food, but was very disappointed with my experience this evening. I ordered a mushroom and squash tamale to go; the person at the counter used his bare fingers all over my tamale while unwrapping it, which I was willing to overlook, but then I got home and started to eat my tamale, only to realize I had been given a beef tamale instead of a vegetarian one. As a vegetarian for over two decades, this was extremely upsetting. I had already walked 45min home, and at that point they were already closed. I really enjoy the vegetarian tamales, but not sure I’ll be going back…
You want the best tacos on the BEST tortillas in Victoria ? Head to Chinatown. Fantastic food. We even got an impromptu tour of the facility. The owner is very proud of his business, and rightly so. Look for Maiiz Brand tortillas in select grocery stores. You will never use anything else again !
