Makes Montreal feel like home for sure. Appreciate what y'all have created Shakti! In terms of climbing, the routes are interesting, and the grading is challenging relative to other gyms. Keeps you coming back for more lots of gym social events as well! Love this place.
Friendly, welcoming, encouraging and historied. This gym hits in a special way because it was the first gym I ever climbed at. However, that doesn’t change the fact that they’re so kind and encouraging to new climbers. As my friend put it, “it’s a climbers gym.” There’s a lot to parse when looking at the walls, but once you settle in and figure out how routes are marked, it’s a good time. They don’t shy away from challenging routes, but have a good mix for beginners, too. I highly recommend visiting this gym at least once in your life!
Love coming here to climb! I was a little intimidated when I started... Maybe a year ago? But the owner and other climbers are very quick to make you feel welcome. It can be busy in the evenings but the times I've come in during the day are less so. A great life improvement having the gym in town. See you for a session soon
Having climbed/lived in 4 different countries, visited countless Boulder gyms and loads of outdoor trips, I can confidently say there is NO place like Shakti. Heaven on earth! They will make you feel like a million bucks even if you’re starting out or you’re a seasoned veteran. Leave your ego at the door, climbing at shakti is like climbing outdoors you will work hard but have fun doing it. I miss this gym everyday and am grateful for the life long friends I’ve made through the community here.
Woohoo I love you Shakti!!!!! This gym is inclusive, friendly and truly unique. It’s me favourite gym in Montreal and let me tell you why: 1. The owners and employees are friendly 2. The problems are interesting and challenging 3. It feels like a community, not just a bunch of people in a room together I’ve met people at the gym who taught me how to climb outdoors, belay, encouraged me to get better and give me tips to work on! When I first climbed here, it’s thanks to the friendly regulars that I wanted to keep on going even when it was hard!
My first impression was that the place was smaller than I expected, but it deserves a high rating for its creative route setting, a nice and welcoming environment to send, and the price too - great gym, would choose this as my home gym if I actually lived in Montreal :

Sick gym, very welcoming and good vibes. It's small and they do old school setting with harder grading than other gyms around here. Probably a better gym for real training. Great diversity of holds and setting, tons of interesting slab problems as well as big burly ones. Owner is super friendly and the clientele are on the same wavelength...people are more friendly here than other gyms, everyone is gonna help everyone send, as it should be! Also cheapest day pass for just as much climbing. Highly recommend
We tried bouldering for the first time this week. The kids and I loved it. We had a great experience and the staff Johnny was super helpful and very welcoming. We'll definitely be back!
Nice little climbing gym with cheap rates. Only complaints that it's sometimes hard to tell which routes apart since tape is used instead of hold color. There aren't that many easy routes so it may be not the best for beginners. Cool art on the sidewall though.
