Saint Germain Bakery Metrotown

My go to quick snack at St. Germaine is the almond croissant. It’s the bomb! Not too sweet, loaded with almonds & priced reasonably. The pastries and cakes look yummy but not sure based on how the others reviewed the cakes. You can either buy the cake whole or buy the slice. I like the slice idea for a better variety at a party. What I love is that they take credit cards! Not like other bakeries that accept only cash.

I love this bakery. All their cake and pastry are creative and delicious! Not too sweet, just perfect. I love their green bean pastry. Today, we tried the following: • Cherry Pistachio Cheese Cake - amazingly delicious! • Black Sesame Cake - Nice & light with layers of sesame. • Chestnut cake - awesome chestnut taste.

Green Tea Mochi was filled with cream and red bean. Was honestly better than expected. It was nice chewy and not too sweet. Carrot Cake was also very good and not too sweet because it was not full of frosting. Probably avoid going when they open. Their selection when the opened was pretty mediocre.

Ordered the Black Sesame cake from here. The price it was showing online was wrong according to the staff member and unfortunately refused to honor the posted price online. Regardless, I bought the cake. The cake design was unique as it had cut up squares of the black sesame cake on the outside. The cake itself was dense and sadly, dry as if the moisture from the cake had all evaporated. The cut up squares of black sesame cake on the outside was dry as well. There was some sort of white jelly in between the fillings but I was unsure what that filling was as there was no taste, just a jelly consistency. The black sesame cream was fantastic though. It was not too sweet probably the greatest compliment from any Asian who eats cake and the black sesame flavor was rich. Due to the fact that the cake was a bit dry, I do wish they would have put more black sesame cream in between to help. Overall, a decent cake with some flaws.

Always enjoy their selection of buns and pastries! From a Too Good To Go order, ended up with a package of 6 egg tarts and 2 napoleon treats. The egg tarts are always comforting and familiar, and the napoleons were OK. We hadn't tried Saint Germain's version before, but it wasn't too sweet. The pastry and 'cream' may have been aged a little expected with a TGTG order, as it wasn't very flaky or buttery. However, the taste was still fine, and the walnuts added a nice crunch. Will be back soon for their many other offerings!

‍really really like enjoy the dough, it’s soft and chewy. But this apple flavour is not my thing. Hope they will have other flavour in the future Banana walnut pond cake little walnut. dry loose texture, not a fan. Prefer moist, dense ones Danish toast ‍‍decent croissant soft chewy texture. Coconut buttery milk bread ‍the crust is amazing. The bread has great texture, soft, chewy. But lack in flavour. Used it to make bread pudding, turns out great walnut cookies Germain bunensaymada‍enjoy parts with the paste 0318 Coconut bun the coconut filling is too sweet for me and the flavour & texture are just not my type. But the bread the dough is super good, chewy, soft Danish salt cheese pineapple bun despite several elements in its name, none of them stands out. It is just an average I-don’t-know-how-to-categorize bun. Again the dough itself is amazing Triple cheese toast‍‍‍‍amazing. Like the previous ones, their dough is consistently good and this one even bounces when you bite it, like Q. Also like how the cheese is a creamy, salty Pecan tart‍okay. Not too sweet. The bottom is a bit burnt which is yeah! for me Hk style napoleon ‍overall bland and heavy. But parts with walnuts are delicious. Wish they put more Chocolate Swiss roll ‍the texture is too dense for me, chokingly dry. Bland taste. Too little cream. The choco flavour is cheap. 0404 Almond Danish toast‍the size has shrunk a lot. Way better than t&t’s. Fluffy, consistent, soft, buttery, moist texture. The top crust is also nice. Overall decent, what you’d expect from a Danish toast 0427 Coconut cream bun‍too heavy and greasy for me. Average bun Yudane cranberry cheese while I love the yudane dough, the cheese and cranberry flavour is underwhelming

Ready for Mid-autumn festival? My belly said she is Yolk lava moon cake is trending these years. First time trying a store baked moon cake Pretty impressed for the @saintgermainbakerybc for their custard mooncake. Both Lava salted yolk custard & Salted egg yolk mooncake has nice presentation and available for order in boxes or single. I prefer the regular egg yolk one since it’s less sweet than the lava one. Worth trying if you don’t have a large appetite to endure the entire box! I also tried their egg tarts. Love the cheese tart! What’s your favourite mooncake flavour? Saint-Germain bakery

They make their own pineapple cakes! I haven't found them fresh anywhere else and they're conveniently located in Metrotown. I had a black forest cake from here for a birthday and it was amazing! I would definitely recommend coming and taking a look at all the different options. They have so many different kinds of cakes, cookies and buns it's hard to pick what to get

Something different from the usual: Durian Cake- $30 6” x 6” not shown here. Very nice texture and tastes a lot better than it smells. Recommend eating it up in one day so it doesn’t sit in fridge.

I have been to the other Saint Germain Bakery at Aberdeen Centre in Richmond. As a comparison I find the cake at Richmond location to be a little better in terms of the cake texture. Overall the food quality is excellent. Plenty of parking here at it’s located in Metropolis aka Metrotown. Business location is right beside Superstore so there’s a lot of foot traffic here. Always busy at this bakery. At time of pandemic all customers require to use hand sanitizer before touching the bakery’s tray. It’s understandable as we need to stay hygienic to avoid contracting viruses. The staff here needs to have more smile and be happy. I would have given another if the staff have smiles.
